Does Perfection exist?

Alright, for starters, I know this isn't really a debate topic, and I would usually have this moved to general discussion, but I feel I can get a wider variety of responses here, and not the same answers over and over.

Pretty much, do you think perfection exists, and why? I want you to reply with your thoughts before reading the next posts including my reasoning.

I personally think perfection is just something we create in our minds. We all most likely have a different perspective of perfection, therefore it is not a set thing. I have a feeling most answers will be similar, but there should be some odd-balls.

 

Perfection is pretty subjective.

If you narrow it and apply it to something it's easier to answer. I.e. a perfect rolling pin is one that's round and unchipped.

Perfection in itself isn't definable. As well as functional, maintainable and other adjectives which themselves have a definition but only matter if they're applied to something.

Hope that makes some sort of sense.

 

I guess I sorta left out info, I'll edit in a bit, but sure there are things you'd call perfect, but I'm more on the ideology of perfection in general.

Can a person be perfect, or a perfect idea. Parents have their own ideal child to hope for, but only to them would they be the ideal child.

 

Perfection does not exist. It is something most loathe and aim for, but often ends in failure. There would be no room for imagination, ideas and solutions.

 

I don't believe it exists either. Perfection is just a thought not a state of mind.

 

Then, yes, it does exist - but is largely subjective just like music taste, opinion, and so on.

 

Even then our judgment is not absolute. There is a flaw in everything.

 

If you say you have the perfect child, then it is so. Nobody elses opinion on the matter really matters or should mean they're not - it's individual.

 

That doesn't mean it's accurate.

Perfection is simply not attainable. That's why people strive for excellence in exchange.

 

Even though it is common knowledge, people still expect so much, and ask for perfection. Or, yes, strive for perfection, believe something/someone is perfect.

 

No. It is impossible to define.

 

It's accurate to whoever is saying it, which is what subjective things are; subjective. There is no general consensus for subjective matters.

 

If perfection is subjective, it does not exist in the general sense and thus is pretty meaningless.

 

Society, our individual lives and the Earth itself are meaningless if you look at the whole picture. Doesn't mean to say it's meaningless just because it's subjective.

 

Perfection exists, but the belief that it exists is up to the discretion of the individual. Everyone has their own perspective of what perfection is.

 

It's just a perspective though, just the same as good and bad

 

So how does that mean it doesn't exist? The answer is yes. Whether you like subjectivity or think subjectivity is important is irrelevant really.

 

I don't have any sense of perfection. I don't see anything past being great, or exquisite. There is no perfect is my mind set. So how does it exist?
