What do you think about prostitution? Is it wrong for someone to sell themselves for money, or do you think that because it's their body, it's their choice.

Some issues you may want to consider that tie into this are:
- Gangs and their manipulation of women/pimps
- Trafficking women and prostitution
- Court cases, false accusations of 'rape'
- The emotional side of it
- The ethical side of it
- The legal side, and if laws should be changed


I don't want to state my standpoint in the OP in order to maintain the thread as unbiased, but I am genuinely interested what peoples thoughts and opinions are on this topic.

if you want pay a girl to fuck her and she is willing to do it then I don't see the problem, i personally wouldn't fuck a prostitute considering all the STD's she could have but hey ho.

 

Let consenting adults do what they want as long as no major illegal harm results from it.

 

I don't see any reasons for it to be illegal. It's just like a verbal agreement from a landlord, except instead of money for a home it's money for sex.

 

I mean to some women, they might really enjoy sex and find it exciting they can earn money from it. Others hate it but that's how they put food on the table, if they are offering their service and you have the money I see no problem. It's not like your forcing them.

 

And others are forced into it by pimps. It's called human trafficking.

 

Legalize & keep it to the brothels.

In locations (even in USA) where prostitution is legal and regulated to brothels there are much lower crime especially sex crimes.

When prostitution is illegal it is regulated by pimps/gangs when its legal and regulated all parties are safer.

A hooker in illegal states cannot go to cops if someone hurts her and relies on a pimp to help her this is the same problem with drugs. When you make things illegal you have a black market and people killing each other.

Area's tough on prostitution laws have highest rates of sex tracking in the world.

Well, obviously I don't condone gangs and human trafficking. But if someone wants to do it on their own accord, I don't see why it's bad.

I personally wouldn't pay for sex as I wouldn't want to catch STD's and I pilsner imagine a prostitute being tight.

 

South Africa has some major prostitution problems. Even with children. They need to fix it somehow. I think Legalizing or at least decriminalizing it is the solution. Make it safe for both the sex worker and the client. Sex trafficking is a serious thing. Not many people think about and it really needs to be fixed.

I'm against it even brothels make me sick you risk alot doing a girl who's been all over town.

I see alot of kids musta voted for it to be legal since they can't get a girl for themselves. Pathetic to pay for it.

Its so common because its illegal there is a black market creating a huge profit margin for those who want to make easy money.

When its legalized and regulated to brothels you eliminate part of the profits making it safer for the woman, the man and society in general. Hookers can't call the cops, men can't call the cops on hookers/pimps once you make it legal you make everyone safer.


Banning Alcohol didn't work.
Banning Drugs isn't working.
Banning Prostitution isn't working.


If you don't like drugs don't do them, If you don't like smoking don't smoke, if you don't like hookers don't pay them.

 

As long as they are consenting adults, I do not see any problem.

 

Legalization and institutionalization would decrease the risk factors that prostitution currently presents. Keeping it illegal only promotes the issues we currently have.

Decided I'd post my opinion, since some of the ones I've read in this thread don't take in to consideration all aspects of prostitution.

I live in a state that does not have legal prostitution, the only state in my country. I recently travelled interstate to one of the legalised prostitution states and had this discussion with a friend about the benefits of legalised prostitution. Although we did not partake, I could see why people may wish to;

First of all, everyone saying they would catch STDs is blatantly wrong, most if not all prosisitutes in legalised states practice safe sex, as it is regulated by health officials for this exact reason. Prostitutes that have diseases are not permitted to work, so there goes that argument. If it is legalised it is taxed, the government makes money off of it and it helps to regulate it.

What about people with low self esteem, that may be overweight or have social anxiety issues? If they want some physical intimacy why should we deny them this.

Another reason why it is a good idea to legalize, is the fact that it lowers the rate of sex related crimes. Most people wouldn't risk rape or anything like that I'd there is a legal option that they can take to get some sexual release.

Those are just my opinions, they may not be everyone's opinions but some of the responses in this thread have jot been thought out very well. You can't just reply to a thread saying "lol no she's taken heaps of dicks".
