    Time Travel Through Wormholes

One possible answer to Einstein's famous Theory of General Relativity is the existence of wormholes, which provide a way to pass through space time faster than light could travel (one basic metaphor for this that helped me understand is if you fold a piece of paper in two, two spots on the page will touch with less of a distance between them than if you hadn't folded the paper in two. Now it is theorized that if you were able to speed up a wormhole's mouth, and could stabilize the wormhole long enough to pass through without it collapsing on itself, you would be able to travel through time up until when the wormhole's mouth was originally accelerated.

Do you guys (who actually understood around 15% of that) think that this will ever be possible, through the theories being correct and able to be accomplished, or do you think that wormhole travel will never be possible (wormhole's haven't been proven to exist)?

I think the idea is plausible, but it would require a massive amount of energy to open up one of these wormholes. You would also have the problem of opening one so that it leads to the place where you want to go.

Mind blown, and yeah its possible, saw some guy talking about it once they already sorta figured out how to do it im pretty sure, just with our technology don't think its possible atm

Our current technology won't let us stabilize a wormhole but there is people already working on solutions for it, also it would be hard since it's believed that wormholes have the ability of appearing and disappearing.

In what way are wormholes an answer to general relativity? What do you mean by that?

Im sure if we couldnt open up a wormhole we could find a way to determine where and when they would open in our universe and just time it correctly.

impossible. time is an illusion, it's simply memories. it's not energy, its not gravity, it's not a little string or road that you can just go back and forth on. if you didn't have memory you would never know the existence of time, because it doesn't exist. and if we did go back in time or forward in time you have to think of the butterfly effect. one little tiny change could have changed the entire fate of the unvierse. You might think well a piece of paper falling on the ground has no effect on the universe but think it through, it could, would, and does have a tremendous effect. every single move we make or will ever make will have a huge effect in the universe

time is there whether we know it or not. Because time ages us it maybe not like modern day time on a clock but it is there.

Time within our universe doesn't exist. It's an illusory thing humans have invented to make sense of things.

The earth moves through space extremely fast. Traveling back only in time would leave you in space not occupied by the earth.

Opening a wormhole wouldn't determine where or when you came out..

It doesn't exist, but we invented it? Sounds kinda contradictory. Wouldn't it be better to say it exists for us? Or why do you say it's nonexistent?

A wormhole technically would not travel you anywhere faster then the speed of light but take you to a new area faster then light would reach there. If wormholes exist it would not break E=MC&2

Note light moves in all directions at once and this image is not how light travels its just an example of how you can move slower but get somewhere first.

There have been actual experiments where people sent atoms that have reached locations faster then light but nothing that has have anything move faster then light.

Even if it was possible, ( i have no opinion if it's possible or not ) how would you know what would happen to you if you entered a wormhole? What would happen to your body or to the object u send trough it? How do you know once your in it You just vanish to nothing.

I just love to read about these things on forums, about black holes, wormholes , the universe, it's so much fun!

I don't think very many people would be up for trying this, we have absolutely no idea what could/will happen. There's a full possibility something bad could happen. Anyhow, We probably won't even have to worry about it for a very, very, very long time.

Well if you think about it, we live in 'real time' if they passed through the wormhole then they would be just hitting a whole lot of nothing. Seeing as they accelorate time and we stay in the same time.. If you understand what I mean

Even with my limited mind, I am sure travelling to the past is impossible. The past is nonexistent and therefore you can't reach it. And to add, I think it would be phsyically harmful to move at the speed of light or faster.

Actually if you buy into some of the modern physics theories there is no reason why time has to go forwards or backwards at all, it is possible we are just observing it as a vector.

As for wormholes I don't see them being useful in many ways... You might just be putting yourself in a completely different universe if Quantum Mechanics has any validity. If that were to really happen they might just disappear forever in our perception but show up in a random part of a different universe. And if that were the case it is impossible to predict what will happen after that.

Very uneducated on the subject but its a question of will humans be around long enough to be able to create that technology to me

We first need to better understand the laws of physics to attempt this, We also need a better understanding on how they work and if they work how we think then after all that we need a machine or a tool to open up one large enough for a probe or camera to fit into, then we need to analyze if its safe then and only then would we test it out but there is a problem, sure they can take us across the universe but there is no clear way to get back.
