I agree. Runescape won't last much longer in the modern gaming industry if they continue the way they are. Jagex is making the right decision to branch out.

That's not true at all, all there other games will have the same graphics or worse then RS, which is pretty damn bad, and it's easier to upgrade something then to start a completely new game. They might get a bit more money at first, but later people are not going to want to play in browser games anymore.

Well, if you look at this:

RuneScape: RPG for highly addictive
MechScape: More for modern type players
FunOrb: Games for kids who don't want to play a MMO, just fun little games now and then

Also, they all add advertisments to RuneScape so RuneScape is gaining more player also.

Modern type players would probably play the many good games out there with real graphics, Jagex made a crappy game with RS, they definately can't make a good one with Mechscape.

Well many players who enjoy runescape may switch over to mechscape, giving it a head start right off the bat. And who knows, mechscape may surprise us all and turn out to be a really big step up from runescape.

sweetness the only bad thing is that when mechscape comes out lots of pplz are gonna try it then there gonna update it and then their not gonna update rs just like they stopped with rs classic then POOF!!!!!!!! Rs is GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in a couple years pplz will be like hey have you ever heard of a game called RuneScape and pplz will be like what is that like a crappy version of MechScape?? then pplz will get MechScape (MS) confused with MicroSoft and pplz will all get pissed and stuff and that America is what grinds my gears!!!! lolz

Then we all will realize how much time wasted playing it, and for some, how much money wasted.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new game by Jagex, as long as it is free to try. If it has the same Graphics as RS, it won't look so good as a modern futurestic game. I figure Jagex must be rolling in dough from parents all over the world, why not spend it on improving the game Graphics?
