Default Tribot and OpenGl Bots

With all of the bot nukes going on recently I have found it difficult to find a dependable platform to bot with. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Past bots

Simba/SCAR/Runedream/Scriptable color bots are the most dependable as far uptime. These bots will not be affected by changes to non-graphical side of the game-engine. So obfucation updates even as effective as the first "bot-nuke" will have zero effect on them, but they have difficulty solving random events and often become stuck.

RID is much more stable simply because of its AMAZING AI, but in my personal experience simply stops functioning after 4 or 5 hours and needs to be restarted. Also it needs close to perfect conditions to work properly and suffers many times from the inability to solve random events.

Powerbot/Rarebot/Epicbot/Scriptable ASM/BCEL bots are the most stable bots out there, this is because they can read data directly from the RS client. However, these bots are the least dependable because often the smallest Jagex update requires an immediate update from the bot developers.

Reflection bots were almost completely wiped out by the bot-nuke. For those who are not java programmers Reflection is a class in Java that has the ability to read other java classes during runtime. The new Jagex obfuscation methods made this difficult to impossible. In the past Reflection bots claimed to be undetectable because they made no changes to the code (as injection bots do). Today, I know of none that exist.

OpenGL bots


Since I own a VPS business that makes use of bots I decided to turn to, what I believed was the most permanent and stable solution to the future of botting, OpenGL. OpenGL is an open-source graphical library that Jagex includes as an option for rendering. Unlike BCEL injection OpenGL hooking will grab sprite and model dimensions positions and colors as they are bring rendered to the screen.

Above is a picture of Tribot which currently has inventory item detection, screen model detection, and uptext detection.

To me OpenGL bots represent the best of both worlds. While they are not able to gather a player's exact position like BCEL bots, they can with 100% accuracy detect which items you have in your inventory and what models are currently being rendered by your client (trees, rocks, fishing spots, monsters, etc.). This is something that color bots will never be able to do with 100% accuracy.

I am looking forward to messing with the Tribot API once it is out of beta and hope to see a shift from BCEL and colour to OpenGL bots.

Looks very interesting and past my knowledge for a response, But I'll follow this thread and hope to learn from it.

I can't wait for the day when you leave a bot running over night and it's still running in the morning =[

Yeah, that would be awesome. By the way I'm not making this thread to bash colour bots I really do respect the villuvu community. You guys work hard to make awesome bots. I just think that as far as RS botting has to go OpenGL is the next logical step.

It's really nothing new a lot of private gold farming bots use this method. Tribot is the first OGL bot that I know of that will be publicly released. At this point it is still in developers beta and does not have an API which means it won't have scripts for available for at least several weeks.

I saw some threads about OpenGL back right before the first bot nuke. They've come quite a ways since then.

Provided Jagex wants to continue supporting HD Runescape for non-windows platforms they will have to stick with OpenGL. I don't know of any alternative capable of the same lighting, shading and particle effects OpenGL offers except DirectX which isn't compatible with Linux and I'm pretty sure doesn't work with Macs although I may be wrong.

I've heard of OpenGL Interception since right around when the bot nuke happened. I believe I proved there were some OpenGL ones at Green Dragons soon after bot nuke, most likely by a private developer for goldfarming sites? They did the same thing injection/reflection bots did when you dropped the green dragonhide in that spot near the portals, and they would go to grab items that were off screen.

I think this will be the future of botting after Optimus is fully activated. Interested in the future of this

I agree, this will be interesting to see. Because to take out OGL, which would be the only way to stop OGL bots, would alienate a huge player base.

You could actually walk in OpenGL via the grids. I saw a picture on RD of a OpenGL hack and it had the ground in blocks as if they were tiles which could easily be worked on.
