Picked up a 'DDoS' runescape program from viewing sythe

Hi guys, Ive never had any sort of keylogger or hack program in 7 years of playing RS... i stick to certain sites and dont click links, I was viewing the Accout selling part of the forums today and i got a 'runescape player DDoS window appear like it was an actuall interface on my system.

It had 'get player IP' option 'Start attack and 'stop attack'

I shut it down... but cant find it on my pc now.. What do you guys suggest i do? looking for some advice.

 

Usually sythe doesn't allow those kings of programs you might have got it from someone who posted a link here? And they can be infected and you not even know it. A "ddos" program would most likely be very expensive and people wouldn't give them away for free, and if they did like i said above it would be riddled with a virus or something. But if it indeed does do what it says its more of a "dos" tool and that uses your own internet to attack something, and could get you in major legal trouble.
My advice? Download Hijack this and do a scan just to be safe.

 

You cant get it from viewing sythe, but you probably downloaded something form a website you viewed/link you clicked.

 

Maybe you clicked one of those links that posed as photobucket links but actually lead you to a Java app which wasn't of honest intent?

They were posted a couple times a few days ago.

 

hey, I clicked a photobucket link in the seller section... And youre right, i got a java activation message, Its still there now (the thread) ill lgo look for it and report it to mods.

 

You can't request an IP adress from only seeing the player in-game as far as I am aware of.
Otherwise you could fuck people over very hard in PVP.

 

That would probably be a good idea, yea.

I only saw three of them and got all of the links removed. You really should report the post and ask a mod to remove the link.

Only type of program that you can just download and use for DDoSing is a DDoSer that relies on a shell. Shells cost money as they need a server to use, so they generally aren't given out for free and if they are, the bandwidth is used up very quickly due to so many leeches.

My advice: Download Malwarebytes anti-malware and run it, it is very up to date and is the only anti-virus i find works extremely well. Then download hijack and analyse it here: http://www.hijackthis.de/. If you think that the problem is still hanging around, head over to http://www.hackforums.net and to the white hat help section. Post your hijackthis log and any other details you can give on the infection.

EDIT: As for how you got the infection, if you have accepted ANY java applets (for example, from what you thought was an RSPS) they can automatically start a download to your PC and run the file downloaded. Due to usually having to accept an applet for an RSPS, this is a very commonly used method of infecting people without them realising.

 

You should also add on, that he most likely has a RAT on his computer and he should not enter any important passwords as the RAT will most likely log them.

 

If you don't have a clue about getting rid of it & it's not getting detected using programs you could System Restore your computer but it'll reset it and you'll lose everything.
