Value of phats

Been out of the RS scene for two years now due to work and life. I play 07 mostly anyway, but I was curious what the market value of all the party hats are currently. I couldnt find much info on forums, I assume they are going for 3+bill at least....

It's incredibly fucking retarded right now how much phats have gone up. I hope they crash back to reality and people lose bank. Someone is merching and manipulating the market hard. Just 1.5 years ago blue was around 3.2-3.5b

 

Jesus. Those prices are ridiculous, 8B for phat. That insane! Time to invest in a ton of phats and hold onto those bad boys for the next 5 years+ haha.
I wonder how far up prices would fluctuate if you locked down 100 phats and held onto them.
Anyone have an idea on how many phats are actually circling through the market?

 

I bought a yellow for 640$ and sold it for 3175M rs3, should give you a general idea

The merching shit is the whole reason why they're so expensive anyway. It's actually pretty interesting from an economics perspective to see what happened - you'd get phats from crackers, right, but when people were popping crackers all they'd want is the item (one players gets a random item and the other gets the phat). Phats were fucking everywhere in 2001. People didn't want them. People actually chose to sell them at the general store for 1gp instead of keeping them. They were a trash item.

All it took was for a handful of people to start hoarding them, and low-and-behold in 2003 they fucking shot up in price once the demand was there. There are some idle accounts that still probably have like 500 phats sitting in the bank. If any of those players becomes active in the black market, may god have mercy on RS's economy lmfao.

 

There was a time when the purple was the rarest. I remember all those events so clearly. Unfortunately hoards of people decided to dupe and crash the price of the purple phat and others. It still blows my mind how something that common in the game is suddenly worth this much. In my opinion, they're fugly and I would rather have a santa.

 

Right! This type of this actually blows my mind. From start to finish, this item has fluctuated and rose in price SO aggressively and now is one of the most sought after items.
I made a nice living IRL, due to this, I have been kicking around the idea of buying loads of phats and just holding them to see what would happen. I wonder how many one person would need to buy to ratify the economy with it.

I definitely agree with you, Santa's are pretty sexy. Surprisingly, I am not a huge fan of the blue phat, its easily me least favorite.

I've been in the Phat market for several weeks now, and it's basically run by a handful of players, and they are a real pain in the ass to deal with. I've bought/sold several phats and literally IMMEDIATELY after a transaction I get a PM from one of them, "Dude, I would have bought/sould higher/lower than that". They are all full of shit and are trying to manip 100% of the time. I'd honestly stay out of the market unless you want to "invest".

 

Crazy, this game is an interesting one. Hahaha. I literally dont play anything but 07 anyway.
Anyone have ideas on what will happen to phats in OSRS?

Purple: 3373,9m
Yellow: 3425m
Green: 3781m
Red: 4725m
White: 6500m
Blue: 8500m

 

I don't think anything will happen to them in OSRS, to my knowledge they are going to be a recurring item. Jagex has openly stated they do not want rares to impact the economy like they have in the past.

That makes total sense, they can sculpt OSRS to make it the way they want after seeing how things were affected in the original RS.

 

I was immensely surprised they'd gone up so much, last time i had a purple it was 700M!
