    Recovering a purchased account

I purchased an account a couple years back from PlayerAuctions, but the owner (presumably) recovered it. Even though I had "insurance" from them, they didn't do anything about it.

I'm thinking of doing the recovery process but I'm wondering if I have a chance. The person with the account has changed the email, password, and recovery questions. I still have the recovery questions from when I purchased the account (which were different), and the email I used. Is this enough? Any advice is appreciated!

Also the person who recovered the account doesn't play anymore and the account isn't a member. What a dick.

If the original owner recovered it, it's unlikely you'll be able to recover it let alone keep it.

Also, PlayerAuctions support/insurance no longer do shit or mean shit unfortunately and their website is basically one huge scam and has been scamming customers for weeks if not months. I suggest staying far, far away from there. As far as the account goes, unfortunately you're probably not going to get it OR your money back. Not much you can do sadly.

    Recovering a purchased account

Alright thanks. Is it worth even trying? Only reason I'm hesitant is because I'm afraid they will see my IP and then punish my main account for RLT or something.

Yeah, all I have is the recovery answers so that's probably not enough. I really wish I had written down all the stuff like when the account was created etc. PlayerAuctions like you said is basically a scam, at least the account trading aspect. I've bought gold a few times without any issues, but the fact that accounts are recoverable makes it impossible to buy safely. And the account was really expensive and was bought as a gift for me :(.

It pisses me off because I'm pretty sure the account isn't even used anymore and I would've used it so much. The few number of weeks I had it I spent several hundred hours. I might at least try to get it banned if I can't recover it.

Thanks for the info. Anyone else's input would be appreciated as well. I'm trying to think if there's some sort of story I can come up with to explain the IP/password changes and make the case that the person who recovered the account was a 3rd person, not the owner. Which for all I know could still be the case.

You can try, but if it's the original owner there is 0% chance you can recover it back. The original owner will most likely have access to the original email used to register the account, and/or be on the same IP address used to register the account, in either case you'll have 0% chance of recovering the account. I've purchased a League of Legends account off of PA, a Plat V smurf account. I reciveved all the details for the account, including IP addresses, old emails and old passwords but the original owner recovered the account with ease. I tried counter appealing but was not successful at all.

PA said on their terms and conditions that my account would be insured but when I contacted them regarding the scam they simply reffered me to their customer service email. I had no reply for 10 days and when I did finally get a reply they simply asked me to provide proof that the account had indeed been recovered and I simply wasn't "faking" it to get a refund of the purchase price. Even after sending in all the proof I could conjure, they ignored me for 2 weeks before replying with a quick message declining my ask for a refund.

Basically, I wouldn't try PA anymore. They are NOT what they used to be, they have done a full 180 and turned into a corrupt website offering fraudulent middleman services.

Ok, thanks so much for your input.

It was actually several years ago that this happened and I contacted PlayerAuctions for a refund since I had the insurance. Their customer service returned my emails on-time and everything, but basically said I needed proof the original owner recovered the account. But how could I have done that and why even get the insurance if I need to prove something unprovable?

Thanks for your help, I'll just cut my losses and forget about it again. Maybe I'll contact JaGeX to get the account banned (not something I'd normally do but this guy deserves it).

This guy scumbagged you, so go scumbag him back.
Send an email to jagex saying you bought the account show emails / proof he (the original owner) sold the account to you, it'll get banned, and try to get a refund (may be hard.)

    Recovering a purchased account

When I first came back to Rs (my account was still a nub) it was daunting to learn all the new stuff. I first starting playing because of my bf, and he told me everything to do, and I did it. lol So, I looked at buying an account because that seemed far easier. I ended up finding one for like $50. It was maxed except for one skill. I had the account for four days before it was recovered. I wish I reported him. He apparently sold all of his gold (as he had a blue phat profile picture and nothing left on his account) and was just trying to get some extra money by scamming his account out.

Go to a public Wi-Fi place, or something, and send all the information you have about him and the account to them to prove he RWTed. People like him are just scummy.

They don't allow sharing accounts for this reason exactly. People buy accounts and when they get recovered they turn to jagex to give it back. Unless you have every detail about the account and some you still probably wouldn't be able to recover it.

Well, first of all. Sorry for your loss. :(

Runescape accounts are ALWAYS recoverable. There's no stopping it.

As far as playerauctions is concerned, they have and are a bunch of scammers. I would highly recommend you not to ever buy any account unless it's from someone here with tons of vouches, and something to lose.

Refer to Videos(Mod) forum thread pertaining to Player Auctions scams.
