How Does this Happen?

So apparently there was a dupe where you could obtain items from NPC's for free by clicking that you don't remember your pin. For more details, see the following video.

What I don't understand is that this is not a new glitch. I definitely remember this glitch from years ago (late 2011 or early 2012) when money pouches were first introduced. It was patched ages ago, so how does it somehow get unpatched years later?

 

Even the unthinkable can happen.

A mess up in the code, perhaps?

 

They used that bank pin option as a "stall" which delays actions in game from occuring, someone apparently messed up quite badly with coding as just stalling made the servers think that you paid for the cape even though you didn't.

Stalls have been used for massive amount of glitches before but I don't think I have ever seen a fail like this and something so obvious to work.

 

All that gold is very useful when your account gets banned *sigh* I've long been told not to ruin a good thing by telling others about it.

 

Crazy! Good money to be had! I wonder if they got banned with any of it.

Honestly? I think the majority of the runescape playerbase knew about this, it's just about keeping the stigma alive by not telling anyone, when in reality, everyone probably already knew.

 

10+ years later of constant RS gaming and still haven't found a bug.. but you see shit like this. Damn lol

 

This is literally most likely caused by Jagex forgetting to add a condition to one of their if statements lmfao

The person that was part of the team that found this glitch actually posted on here a while back, can't find the thread but yeah I'll keep looking and try post back
