What items to hoard?

TLDR: you'll be able to disassemble items (most alchable items) and attach the parts on to items to give them a selection of perks and/or downfalls. The example given was a ZGS would give Zamorakian parts and blade parts, etc. You'll need 80 Divination, Crafting and Smithing to access the skill so hopefully it will be a high level skill with no dead content. They said it would be enabled/disabled and be a comp requirement, so my assumption is that it isn't required for max - correct me if I'm wrong though.

Ehh, not really super excited. For me it just means getting my max cape back. Not going to try and merch either.

Have plenty of gold on rs3 so I'll just buy what I need and grind it out on release. Hopefully crawl up the highscores a bit.

 

Just makes RS3 even more complicated and annoying to play @.@

Is the only way to disassemble stuff and add it to weapons? If so, it sounds like it'd be super expensive (thank you). I just hope whatever you add is temporary, but well worth it, and you cannot sell it. That way it'd be the ultimate money sink.

I assumed it wasn't a max requirement given that they mentioned it being a comp requirement.

You drag an item on to an icon to disassemble it. You can then create new combinations but can disassemble those at any time if you don't like them. I think it's tier 70 gear upwards. They gave an example of a ZGS with anti-fire capabilities, extra strength against dragons but on the down side you took 5% more damage from attacks - stuff like that.

 

That's a shame. Was hoping it'd be a good money sink, the game desperately needs it. Oh well :L

 

I don't know whether you get the same value back out, however.

Anyways: I'm banking on God items and cheap items like seeds etc

Doesn't seem to be the addition everyone was hoping for. Definitely disappointing, especially considering how long it's been in the works. I'll play around with it, but I don't see myself using this on a daily basis, nor will I be grinding it out as it doesn't appear to be an actual skill. In conclusion, meh.

 

Perks might be extremely useful though?

 

There's so many already. After auras and scrimshaws, along with prayers, potion boosts, and all the wacky side effect stuff from special items, it gets a bit out of hand.

 

Agreed there, but they do have to keep coming up with new items and content unfortunately

 

Sounds complicated but it seems like it may add some new momentary life into the game

 

I'm not too keen on the "duplicator" part of invention, tbh. I believe it'll crash the prices of high-priced items. Instead of being 50% duplication it should be a 20% chance of duplication.

Agreed. Just saw the duplication part, that'll be abused quite a bit once someone figures out how to do so @.@

 

What's the perks list for? Is that a list of the names of the items that can be invented or the name of the abilities for you to invent certain items?

 

Interested to see what this actually ends up like...could possibly kill rs.

 

Momentary being the key word there...with a lot of the other content put out recently unless it can be used to push efficiency even further it just will go dead. Definitely a let down for how long it has been teased for.

 

Honestly the only reason I'm excited for this is because personally I have the time and resources to grind the hell out of it. It'll bring me up in the ranks and make my comp. cape more reputable for sometime. The release isn't convenient for many scapers, will likely take many months to get it to 120 if you can only afford to play a couple of hours a day. Discussion on the HLF is predicting it could take up to 400-500 hours, based on statistics Jagex released at RF. Even if that's drastically exaggerated or miscalculated, let's say by twice the amount (which is unlikely), it's still going to be a hell of a grind.

 

Given that AFAIK it isn't a max requirement - I think the grind time is quite acceptable. Comp capers have essentially 'completed' the game, and therefore it should be a constant challenge/grind.
