Most people who play Runescape have played for several years. I couldn't imagine starting fresh! I'd definitely start in F2P and don't go straight into P2P - it'd be a content overload. Just do the basic F2P quests, get a grip for the game, and use youtube tutorials to help.

    It's a fun game!

You will unlock much bigger areas, quests, miniquests, armors/weapons etc etc with p2, but it's not really worth it when you a new player. As for tutorials, you can search on youtube (for example: combat training for f2p 1-99 guide). You will find plenty amount of videos that can help you. My advice would be the same: stay f2p for awhile untill you get a good grip of the game.

There are some new people, but the large majority have been playing for a few years, or left a few years ago and came back. With tutorials, you kind of have to know what you are looking for sometimes.

There's an absolute crap ton of content to the game, to be honest. I think what would help understanding a little bit would be doing the quests (their guides can be found on the wiki page, which tell you exactly how to do the quest) and I also think that reading into the the game's history and lore would help. Doing quests can show you around the map and show you many different things you can do, and the lore will help you to understand the game's character dynamics a little bit.

Since you're new, you will probably spend a lot of time exploring about and learning the ins-and-outs of the game itself until you get a feel for it. It will take some time to get into, but it's a pretty great game once you're into it :)

The RuneScape Wikia (http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape_Wiki) contains almost all the information there is too find, explained very clearly and with lots of pictures.

Start exploring mate, don't worry about any of your possessions or anything yet.

There are so many different paths to take in the game that you'll only figure out where you want to go by talking to the people you meet and by experiencing the many events it has to offer.

free to play, and pay to play.

Best way is start with the f2p (Free to play) quests , discover the skills u have by training them each to at least lvl 10 using Wiki runescape or google help.

In no time you will be a runescape addict ;)

I would recommend you to play oldschool rs, it would be a lot more easier to learn than to play rs3.

I'd recommend finding an active clan to join as well. If it's a good clan, the members will be more than happy to help you out with any questions while you get used to the game.

This game is loads of fun. Personally been playing for 11 years now and it's like crack. You always come back for more...There are a plethora of guides on youtube and other sites. Some of the most helpful for me starting out were RuneHQ, Tip.it and Zybez. All have a ton of guides covering almost every topic for beginners to veterans.
