First time back in years, wat do?

Account won't be botting or RWT'ing in any way, takes the fun out of it for me.

This is my fairly old (5year cape) skiller, who i just got combat on for the first time a few days ago, levelling it now. I've been doing primarily dungeoneering, but I'd like some help from you guys.

What quests do I need to do?
What area tasks are important to finish quickly?
It seems like everyone is quiet and already level 130+, should I just find another game?

I'd make unlocking Prifddinas your (long term?) goal for now. There are enough skill and quest requirements to keep you busy for a while. Also, Desert Treasure, and Smoking Kills as you'll want the double slayer points if you're going to be doing combat.

-What area tasks are important to finish quickly?

Not quite sure about this one. The ardougne cloak (3) is useful for farm runs and general thieving, the seers hard/elite tasks unlock the (Elite) Enhanced Excalibur, which is a nice non-degradable offhand weapon (t70 damage and t72 accuracy if I remember correctly, possibly the other way around) with a decent healing ability.

A lot of people are basically just focused on themselves and grinding now, so unless you find a clan or something there will be a lot less "community spirit" than you remember. I'd give this a shot and if you don't like it after a month or two, maybe it's just not the game for you.
As far as catching up to peoples combat levels, combat training is *very* fast now, so it shouldn't take too long to reach 130+. I'd do most of it through slayer or dung for now and if you get bored of that, once you hit 70 attack and defence you can afk hellhounds in guthans for like 300k exp/h.

 

Alright. Currently doing some dung, and getting range up. Working on getting everything slowly before I start slaying. Is melee the best for slay? I was thinking of maxing range first to get some money from pvm, as it's the quicket usually, get through caves and kiln, etc.

 

Personally I want to say that magic is the "best" combat style for most things now. It's definitely the most effective in the fight kiln. As for slayer, I ranged most of my tasks and it seemed to work out well, at least as far as kuradel/morvran tasks go. That's not to say that melee is bad, it just seemed less effective.

 

Alright. I'll work on getting ranged and mage then and hybridding some dungeoneering first of all.

I've only just recently returned to the game as well! I was gone for maybe 6 or so years. What I did/am doing is a ton of research and setting long term goals. Depending on items you want, skills you enjoy most, and if you need to follow things chronologically, things you'd want to do first change. I know that I first did a few quests that would allow me to get on my feet first, and then I made desert treasure my goal. Once I complete said quest, I will do some more research and refocus once again. I certainly agree with Green Tea's third point as well.

 

Don't burn yourself out in two or three days, that's my biggest recommendation.

Try to play an good amount of hours each day so you don't get burned out and want to stop playing after two days.

If you want to do some combat training I would recommend either Mage or Range since it's very powerfull on early levels and very easy to train.

 

I'm at 45 mage atm, and i've got to say, it is crazy amounts of fun. RS finally feels like a real MMO to me. I always liked everything, and now I like the combat. I hate that it's dying, but it's looking good for me for now.

 

I'd say get a few more money making skills up to get starting year for Pvm. As for the achievements fally/ardy for farm runs

 

I still have 10m cash, and i'm planning on doing only magic and defense as of now, because magic is so fun, and I can defensive cast for Magic. After i get 40 def and dagon hai robes, next goals? I'm powering through dungeoneering and could afford a chaotic staff before long, should i go for that?

 

I'd definitely recommend getting a charming imp at some point, it'll make your life much easier. If you don't mind the repair costs and runes cost the chaotic staff is good until you can afford a noxious staff, assuming you continue on with magic.

I like RS3. I've been playing RS before a vast majority of Sythe users, so you'd think I'd enjoy OSRS, but i don't. I like nearly every update that RS has put out.

 

You could go for the chaotic staff, it's a solid option. If you're unsure though, go to the wikia page for magic weapons. You'd be able to do a little looking into on it. As for what to do next, if you're interested in leveling up combat, I'd imagine that slayer would be a good one to do. Not only would you get combat xp, but you'd also be leveling up your slayer which would allow you to defeat more and better monsters with potentially better drops. Another option is summoning. Once you get it high enough you can summon some pretty neat things like the pack yak

 

Get barrow gloves at first i would get miths, then dung 80-90 then frosts

 

In my opinion, you should set a short term goal, then once you reach it make another E.G 100k dung tokens for charming imp! Then on top of that have a medium/long term goal E.G a 120 master cape!

If I use my self fur example, I made my account in October with 2x exp weekend coming up I instantly set a goal of 99 herb, then once I achieved that I then started going for 99 Farming! My long term goal was 120 master defence, which I just recently achieved, 7 months later!

He literally just said he doesn't enjoy 07. Why are you posting here anyway if you play 07? Stop posting just for post count.

 

tbh one of the plus sides to playing now as opposed to years ago is that the XP rates are much higher.

I haven't played much for quite a while now, but last I gained magic XP it was like 500K+ in the Abyss with barrage, ridiculous.
