How old was you when you first discovered RuneScape and how did you hear about it?

I was nine years old, in like, the third grade or so, and some highschooler that rode my bus told me about it. He said you could explore dungeons, and do anything you ever wanted to, like cut down trees, burn stuff, cook, fish and farm. I checked it out and have been hooked ever since.

 

I was 12 or 13, the summer before 6th grade & Middle School began. I was an avid Robot Rage player, a popular game on Miniclip. I was also a part of the Miniclip Forums.

When I saw that people had Runescape related avatars I always wondered what game that was from and how it looked cool. I then noticed Runescape was always the #1 ranked game on Miniclip so I quickly signed up.

Originally, I thought the game played like tutorial island in that everything was linear and very straightforward. Obviously I was wrong. When I was plopped into Lumbridge I had little idea of what to do. I remember just finding Varrock was incredibly challenging and rewarding ( I remember telling my brother "I'm at the big bank come and find me!")

I don't know how I survived that initial learning curve. But here I am today .

 

I was 12 when I found out about it. I played mostly console at the time, so when I went to my cousin's house one day and saw him playing on the computer, I asked what game it was. I initially thought it was like an "Age of Empires" game. I started watching him walk around Lumbridge and I remember asking him so many questions about it. I remember asking what was the different color armour that they're wearing, what's those colored hats they're wearing, and so on. He then went to the wilderness, explaining that anybody could attack you there. I think we made it somewhere around level 30, when a mage killed him. I thought it was AMAZING. He logged off and let me make an account. I spent SO MUCH TIME playing that game. I would play before and after school, every day.

Nearly 12 years later, I've seen the game go through many ups and downs.

I was probably like 10. Everybody was playing it in our school. One guy had 10K after killing goblins forever and everybody wanted to buy them for huge amounts of irl money

about 10 as well here. My next door neighbour had a range pure, and did a lot of castle wars. I remember it looked damn awesome, and made a mage pure over 2 years. Thinking back, he sold me gold at such a fucking inflated rate. He was like 14/15 at the time, lmao I must have gave him about 50 bucks for a couple of mil.

 

It's so nice hearing all these stories. Runescape was such a vast unknown world to me back then. I'd give anything to go back to that time and re-discover everything..

 

9 years, watched a childhood friend play the game, back then I couldnt speak/write a single word of English so it was a real challenge

 

That is exactly the same story as how I started playing.

 

Were you part of the Miniclip Forums too, perchance?

Runescape + Robot Rage sections of the forum were very active back then.

 

I had just moved to Florida (age 7, 2004) and the kids in my neighborhood played it. Later my dad made an account for my brother & I to share. That's all there is to it.

 

I can't pin point when I first ever started. But my current account was started in 2007 when I was just starting secondary school. All my buddies at school were playing it and I was the last to catch on so I was always the noob - safe to say I wreck them now only they all quit half a decade ago lmao. Most of them moved on to Warcraft.

 

Learned about it from some friends that started it up back in middle school. I was like 13 or so. The thing is there was a library near by so we would all hang out together there and play some RS every so often. Was pretty chill, but many friends I know quit and have moved on--as well as me.

 

I was around 9 years old and I learned about RS from a friend at a library near my house. He was playing and I asked him what kind of game it was, so he explained me a lot of stuff about the game. After that, he let me create an account and he gave me like half of his money which was around 50K. I thought I was rich and I kept playing after that.

 

Seems the library was where everyone first played - them dial up connections at home were no good for scaping xD

 

6th grade and heard of it through a friend. Rest is history.

 

Jesus Christ, playing on dial up. Back then though I remember it being not so bad, just the Internet would drop sometimes if somebody tried calling.

 

It was back at around 2007 i think? I used to go to a local boys and girls club (google it if ur clueless about it) and one day a group of my friends found a game on miniclip called runescape we all signed up and spent the whole time doing stuff on tutorial island. Ever since then ive been playing the game and enjoying it. Those memories of first joining were my best runescape experience, sadly i moved and less n less of friends still play lol i guess im the last one.

 

I think it was 05 or 06 when I heard about the game on school when my classmates were talking about it and I decided to check what kind of game it was. Also I used to play on miniclip as well and saw advertisement for runescape, that's probably when I first went to runescape homepage.
