    Why do you play RS3?

As an avid 07 player who thinks the RS3 version of the game is a complete joke I want to hear your side of why you think the game is worth playing, what does it offer?

    Why do you play RS3?

I prefer 07 but why I still log in to Runescape 3-
-EoC isn't my preferred system of combat but it does offer some variety and bossing is a bit more challenging and strategic.
-The wealth that has taken me 10 years to accrue is on my Runescape 3 account, it is hard to let that go after working so hard and so long for it.
-My stats that have also taken me 10 years to accrue also can only be found on my Runescape 3 account, of course, since 07 had stat resets.
-The hope that a new piece of content will rekindle my interest in the core game. Legacy mode did, especially in terms of PvP and pking again in the core game. That was a breath of fresh air and RS 3 needs more content tailored towards restoring dead / dying content, not adding in filler content that will also become dead not long after arrival.
-The atmosphere - In some ways, Runescape 3 feels like a single player game. For a more independent and reserved player like myself, this is actually quite a nice feeling at times. Though, this is a double-edged sword, because there are times I wish I could do things together with people again - such as Barb Assault, Pest Control, Castle Wars, etc. I know those games are still played, but it is minimal and does not capture the same aura it once had.
-End game content - When new end game content comes out, my character usually has the stats, quest completions, etc to be able to participate. While I wasn't / am not able yet to enter Elf City, it's nice to have end content opportunities in Runescape 3. In 07, I can very clearly see an end to the game, though it is distant and I will probably never reach it.

    Why do you play RS3?

I took a break from RS for about 2-3 years and came back literally a day before EoC. Because of my extended break, and the change in the combat system, it felt like a new game to me. I saw a lot of players quit because they didn't like the change, which is understandable. However, I personally didn't experience the game from ~2009 to 2012, so I guess I simply didn't know what I had lost :p

I continue to play now because I'm very close to max, and I would like to achieve that goal. I also find some of the higher level content, such as the new elf city and new bosses, to be a lot of fun.

    Why do you play RS3?

Because I didn't want to start over. Switching to OS meant more grinding, and more wasting time.

I don't play RS anymore though.

    Why do you play RS3?

I have about a 20-25 b bank myself in Rs3, if you read my Rs 3 goal thread you'll see why the intrinsic value of my items are quite higher than your average player.

Also, being maxed = you've essentially beaten the game already...my stats were high enough to do most end game content but low enough to still do a lot of skilling.

Fair play, it's alll opinion I just don't like rs3, although from time to time I do enjoy the graphics I just don't like the gameplay.

    Why do you play RS3?

Word I hear ya. Just giving you some perspective + explanation + clarification on why I had those two points in my initial post.

If I didn't have that added intrinsic value, I'd have quit the game long ago too.

The toxic community is what does it for me. Every little issue is debated about, childishly, all throughout the game or on the Official Forums. It is tiresome and quite annoying. You have the blind Jagex Supporters that are fine with literally any change and will defend Jagex no matter what. You have the people that hate anything Jagex does and will bash them no matter what. And then you'll have people like me, who likes a mix of old and new content. Any old content that you mention will get you called a "nostalgic crybaby", while any new content you mention will get you called a "hipster".

You can't win with the Runescape 3 / core game community. 07 is a bit less toxic because everyone is already familiar with the game and content is solely player driven and voted on.

    Why do you play RS3?

I had a lot of time invested into my RS3 account when 07 came out, I didn't fancy restarting. It has the most content, the most frequent updates, the most development time put into it, and the most players.

There are parts that piss me off, but rs3 also comes with a lot of good. A lot of things are just smoother and more enjoyable than on 07.

    Why do you play RS3?

I don't play RS3 too often, but if I usually do, I switch to Legacy + min settings. Then all I do is grind in the abyss.

    Why do you play RS3?

The only reason I play RS3 over OSRS is because once you're done with the content in OSRS, you've completed the game. MMOs are supposed to keep you wanting more by releasing new things to achieve. I simply can't get into OSRS, I've tried countless times. It would probably be a relief to max on OSRS rather than RS3 because once you're done, you're done. But I've worked too long and hard on my RS3 main that I wouldn't be able to let it go. I don't mind having low levels, as I've created new accounts on RS3 a few times (I have my main, my Ironman, and my alt), but I don't fancy the idea of having reset OSRS stats because the two gameplays are entirely different. I miss and love the old RuneScape, not a recreated version of it. I was a young kid when I was involved in that era of RuneScape; I'm simply no longer a kid and when I play OSRS, I can't get into it like I once was able to.

    Why do you play RS3?

I've tried runescape 3 (legacy mode) a few weeks ago. horrible. In my opinion, they should of never put EOC. Completely ruined the game. Now all I play is rs07. I guess a reason why people still play rs3 is that they were able to adapt to change, or are too addicted to the mechanics of the game that they couldn't possibly quit and were just forced to adapt.

    Why do you play RS3?

I started to play rs in 2002 and I didn't like 07 rs in 2007 so I left the game for a while and came back in 2010. The game was almost completely changed, the graphics were better, the gameplay and content was much more fun and the overall community was a lot better.

As for OSRS, I am a Runescape purist so I don't like them adding new content or adding it over content they actually added back then. I realise that it's a completely different game and that they should keep it interesting, etc. but I would only play it for a nostalgia trip and new content isn't nostalgic.

    Why do you play RS3?

I'd rather play rs3 than 07 mainly because I've put in a lot of time and effort into my account on the live and am too lazy to start all over. Plus rs3 has smoother gameplay and for me, I find the GE is a necessity for me to get things done, which 07 doesn't have.
