[Discussion]When was RuneScapes best years to you & Why?

Interested in finding out when RuneScape was in it's prime in your guys eyes.

To me; I'd say around '09-'11. I played with a few of my real life friends and we all just had fun on an addicting game we loved.

How about you guys?

 

2006-2009. After that it just started to go downhill.

 

I rarely played before 2008, but from everyone I heard it was a very fun time.

 

2004-2010, yup I spend about 2 years in castlewars with ice barrage and a whip. Best years ever.

 

2005-2008 were my favorites. Absolutely unbelievable and very fun. 2009 & 2010 were top tier as well, but 2005-2008 were my best times I have ever had in ANY video game.

EoC was something I took in stride, but it definitely changed the community and attitude and direction of the game irrevocably.

 

I to this day have never been able to enjoy EoC.

 

It's very polarizing. I never preferred it over the older stuff, but some of the boss battles are at least a bit more intriguing with the variety you can employ to defeat them (with EoC).

But it's complex, sometimes convoluted, and has a toxic/elitist community that is ADDICTED to xp gains.

 

Another thing I forgot to mention, did ANYONE like the Free Trade removal at the time? [Probably only applies to non-BM'ers]

 

from RSC all the way to 2009 give or take, some players have different opionions. RS use to be huge and flourish, sweet community too.

 

One of the reasons I joined was the community to be honest. I had/met a lot of friends on there!

 

I think 2006 had to be that prime year, I don't know what it was about it though. Had to be the greatest experience in gaming for that year in all the years i've played video games

 

All time between 2006 to 2009 or whenever pking got nerfed, I was so hooked into this game and especially to player killing and pvm. After that there were so many uptades that changed the game mechanics way too much that I didn't even want to play anymore for quite some time.

At the time I lost my interest in runescape for while it was due to jagex not listening to their players feedback and just kept making pointless uptades that no one basically wanted to happen.

 

to me 2009-2011 pre eoc

I loved pking the most then and tbh the dicing clans and stuff appealed to me

 

Before EOC basically. The community is so elitist now on RS3, I find it hard to even log in.

 

2004-2007 were my favorites. I was playing against my friends and in an area where I didn't have a console gaming system or strong internet speeds.

 

2005/6 were my favourite. I remembering being like 10 and getting my dad to buy me RSgp off this site. I had a Mage pure with full mystic and an ancient staff and I used to lure people into the wildly

 

I started playing in 2009, and when free trade was released I loved it, so I'd have to say 2011-2012.

 

I still have interest in the game now, but 2011-2012 were the most fun years for me I think as I still had many friends to play with. 2005 was a good year for the game.

 

I took a break from ~2010 to 2012, came back right before EoC came out. I didn't hate it as much as most people, and I've grown to enjoy it quite a bit. I will say, however, that 2006-2009 were the best times I've ever had on RS.

 

Fond memory I have of 05 or 06 RS:
2005 Castle Wars in a Dragon chainbody back when they were 23 million gp at the Falador Park World 2 area.

I remember being absolutely ecstatic completing my set of Dragon. Went to Castle Wars and I was literally next to impossible to kill it felt like. Even with the copious amount of ice barragers on the other team, I could hold our flag or score pts for our team with ease.

I literally felt like a god lol. I was quite the hero of sorts in Castle Wars. I miss those days where minigames were packed in every single world.
