Thinking about getting back into RS3

Long story short I have not played in a decent amount of time (probably about 5 years) and I am looking to get back into it. Judging from my recent log in, it seems like a good amount has changed. Just wondering what the player base is like and if the new update has made the game unbearable or not.

Before I stopped I started on a tank-type build stats are:

Attack: 1
Strength: 2
Defence: 70
Range: 71
Mage: 90
Prayer: 53

Looking to max out magic and range, not sure if leveling attack and strength will be beneficial.

I know I will just have to play to determine if I'll like it, but I hope some vets will be able to give me some advice.

Also I'll be looking to buy some gold (only have about 20 mil in the bank) so an idea of the ideal equips would help.

The one that bothers me is how the xp system is set up. I didnt even realise until a couply days ago that when i was killing a monster i wasnt getting any xp for it until i had completely killed it which reminded me alot about rs classic cus thats how it was back in those days. I dont know if thats suppose to be like that because i play in legacy mode or if thats just how things are now. Im pretty sure every hit i made gave xp before eoc? I just cant remember though..

Your best bet is to just get in game and try it out for a bit see if you actually like it.

 

Play legacy, rs3 graphics suck a dick, but you could try pking with those stats, quite a few bit of people pk nowadays

I went back to rs3 a few weeks ago myself. It was.... an experience? to say the least... I left when eoc came out but come to realize now that its not that bad...

As for the player base and community, its not there... sorry but its gone to shit. There is next to nobody in any world, not to mention W2 is always open. Used to have people packed into areas for fishing and in the GE for trading, but now even the most populated worlds are baron. Be prepared to adventure with no contact (all good for me with some music on).
