Rare name release?

I'm hoping this won't just be a massive snipe-spree. Been waiting on this since they started giving the excuse through e-mail. Do you foresee a huge rush of names in the RWT market or are you hoping to get one personally?

 

I might try to get one.

Good to know And excited for the update Im trying to get one, don't know which ones become free, but does "dormant" mean only inactive players or include it banned players too?

 

GREAT news. I probably won't get any names because of the name bots.

 

Something tells me it will not be how any of us expect, really . It will most likely be just more random names freed up like Pancakesauce88 with an alternative-suggestion system still nothing relative to what name we desire that shows as unavailable.

It's pretty inevitable what will happen with this release.

As being someone who's been involved with this market so actively and for a long time I can see the frustration that Jagex has been going through with regards to the high volume of emails they get now about display name requests, having names changed back, offensive usernames, and alot of other crap. I know this because some of the jmods have personally expressed these emotions with me.

The whole entire names market in general will crash tremendously because of the huge decrease in demand and surplus of supply. The shear desire to have a username will be gone for a long time since there will be so many in the hands of all users now.

Rumor has it that on the HLF there will be 10Million + usernames released over the period of this month. With 10 million free names its like January 2001 all over again, the sky is the limit and there will be alot to choose from. Keep your minds open because there are ALOT of names coming out, but there are also ALOT that won't be coming out. It will be as good as you make it out to be, some of us live for this

 

A J-Mod said that they will do this update next week.

Hopefully they'll give us a cordial heads up, I also am curious as to whether or not this type of concern is being brought to their attention on the RSOF.

read somewhere that an email will be going out shortly to all members telling them to login or may lose their display name(some kind of warning along those lines). Also i believe only the details are released this week, pretty sure the release will be over quite a long time and measures will be put in place to prevent any sniping. I'd assume they'll wait a week or two more before starting the release, and yeah the names market will be ruined if the release is as it seems.

 

Is this good or bad for name sales? it could be good cause it frees em up, but wouldnt it take all the names from name shops, like the ones that have stocked up on em forever?

I think "normal" players have no chance to get "rare" names anyway. Item- and goldshops will get them.

 

I'm sure everyone would hope to get a cool display name, but with there being a market for everything, it's very unlikely.

I would like to have my old display name back though.
