my question is whats the biggest benefits to wearing armours, is it the health point? or is it for an edge against your opponent? (eg. wearing rune armour vs melee)

im f2p and 30 def and plan to keep it around there. now I know my armour selections wont give me much protection at my 110+ cbt levels (full mith, full carapace or druidic mage gear)

should I keep my armour that way to try and gain an upper hand against my enemy? weather it be pvp or pvm. or should I just mix and max trying to get the highest life points I can?

thanks in advance for the much needed help!

Definitely do NOT mix-and-match different armour types!

Armour is incredibly vital in EoC/RS3, and if not used effectively, you'll end up destroying your own attacks and having literally no line of defence.

In regards to the biggest benefits, you have not only the life points provided by armours, you also have the strengths/weaknesses against other types of combat.

The combat triangle is more important than ever now, and you need to be fully aware of it.

    Melee > Range
    Range > Mage
    Mage > Melee

Now, as you'll notice, there is an armour stat on each individual item. Different items of the same level, but for a different type of combat, will actually vary depending on what you're fighting.

The armour stat is used in full force (100%) when fighting against the combat style that it is strong against (E.G. Rune platebody vs Range)

The armour stat is less effective (62.5%) when fighting against the same combat style (E.G. Rune platebody vs Melee)

The armour stat is near useless (31.25%) when fighting against the combat style that is stronger than the armour's style (E.G. Rune platebody vs Magic).

Not only this, but if you use a different combat attack style from the armour that you are using, you will receive a 15% accuracy reduction in your attacks if the wrong class is used in your torso, legs or help slots, up to a massive 45% accuracy reduction!

Something you might want to consider as well if you prefer to use multiple combat types at once is Hybrid Armour. These armours will have less armour/life points than specific armours of the same level, but it can be used by all combat styles without an accuracy bonus, and defends equally as well against all combat types.

Hope this helps a little, if not just yell and I'll try to explain anything else you need!

They ruined pures because of the importance of armor. If you look on the Runescape Wikia it explains all the benefits etc.

that helps a lot! I just seen my block % is 0 until like 50 cbt lvs lower then mine, probably due to my low quality armour so I wasn't sure if any diff was being made. thanks for your help!
