RS vs RS07

I was wondering if it's worth it to go back to RS07. I'm thinking about selling some stuff to buy 07 RSGP, but I'm thinking if it's worth it. I see that a majority of the community is going back to RS07. Also I just can't get used to the new EoC system. But also I feel that the RS07 community might come back to regular Runescape when RS3 is released. What are your guys personal opinions on the two Runescapes?​

 

If they released GWD then people would not care about rs3 or maybe that's just me.

 

People who play 07 won't go back to EoC when RS3 is released. If the people who currently play 07 were interested in graphics, they wouldn't be playing 07 to begin with.

 

Both versions of the game are dying.

EoC is doing things in hopes of making Runescape more beginner friendly/fun to attract a new playerbase to keep Runescape going.

RS07 is a broken concept as far as a real standalone game. It's a system that doesn't draw in new players, relies on bots for any chance of a stable market, and allows players(who know nothing about how to balance a game) to choose what content goes in.

RS07 to me = Classic2

I've just come back to Runescape in general, and EoC is really the only option for me. If I wanted to play an old version of the game that will last at most 2 years, i'd go play a 317 RSPS.

EoC might not have been the best update ever(definitely not the worst! We're looking at you trade limit/wildy removal and sof...), but the New Interface System is fucking lovely.

 

EoC ruined the whole concept on RS for me, it's confusing and doesn't make the game any funner, the classic special attacks were good.

 

I highly doubt this. The people that properly play RS07 do so because they do not like EoC. With RS3, the gameplay is exactly the same, just with improved graphics, therefore there will be no reason for RS07 players to return.

I was under the impression that this is not the case? When RS07 was first released then sure, but as far as I can see, the population on RS07 is dwindling, there certainly isn't a vast number of players moving from EoC to RS07 any more.

Eventually you will ^_^ I personally much prefer it, especially the fact that the combat triangle now works properly once more. It adds a lot more strategy to PvM and PvP in my opinion. The option to switch to momentum and train the old way is also a nice touch.

It will be worth it if you enjoy it, that's all there is to it really. With it being so easy to achieve the end game on RS07, as well as being too easy to earn enough money to buy whatever you want, I personally don't see any longevity in RS07, even PK'ing gets boring after a while when you realise just how many PJ'ers there are

You could always give RS07 a shot, without purchasing 07 gold at this point in time. See if you enjoy it as it is, then decide whether or not you'd enjoy it more by being able to buy whatever items you need on it? My only fear is that if you eventually purchase RS07 gold, and end up broke on EoC because of it, when RS07 gets to the point where it's only bots actually playing it, and there is no community, you'd basically need to start over again on EoC in terms of gold.

I preferred Runescape in the time before EoC.

 

If you do decide to give RS07 a shot, let me know! I'd happily give you some of the starter bits like armour/runes/arrows/food etc if you don't want to start entirely from scratch, and don't want to buy RS07 GP either

I think what they tried to do with RS, that was basically revamping the whole combat system, wasnt a wise move. I mean I know they need to attract the new generation of gamers, but it would be wiser to first make a interface change rather than a whole combat revamp in the game. The essence of the game for me it's the pvp wise, the fun I had while pking back in the 06-08 days was amazing, rushing,pjing,tricks the game for me was basically for that, and nothing else. Never enjoyed much the pvm part of the game, and never really did the achievements. Just good and ol' pking.

 

The 07 community is a great deal smaller, and possibly more close-knit. Also, 07 might lose its allure when you realize that leveling up all your stats a second time isn't enjoyable.

The influx of players to 07 at its release was due mainly to nostalgia and the failed EOC update. However, the number of players has slowly declined since and levels around 15-20k average daily.

As for the 07 community going back to RS3 - that's highly unlikely. They're playing 07 because they dislike EOC and RS3 makes no attempt to rescind it.

On RS3's release, the servers will temporarily increase in population, but will die down again. There's too many underlying problems with updates and bugs, disgruntled customers over server disconnects, and people afraid of upcoming updates due to uncertainty on affects to the market - the population will keep declining.

 

2007 rs was good back IN the year 2007. Now its like chasing that first high. Its never gunna happen. I only played the first month it came out.The community was strong and very good. I havnt played since so i couldnt tell.
