How good of a computer do you need for RS 3?

Are there any specs listed anywhere? I'm afraid RS 3 may leave me in the dust. :'(

An up to date browser. Marginally better specs than you need to run RS currently. You should be fine

 

What Jagex has said is that the game will actually perform better than it currently does on mid to high end machines, if you have a lower end computer, you could always just play with the min graphics settings.

 

Okay sweet, I definitely hope that I can run it at max settings though. I have a pretty decent computer but I hope it's enough!

 

The lowest specs needed to play is definitely improving. I have a 1gb graphics card, 2.8ghz processor (nothing special I know but ye) and the first day of the beta I couldn't move at all in the highest detail and just barely in the lowest setting. I logged in just now though and i can run around better in the highest detail than I could in the lowest detail back then. They'll always do frequent performance upgrades though that'll eventually allow average to low spec systems to run fine. If your computer can't handle it on the day of release however, the Java version will still work so you can play on that until RS3 works with your machine.

 

There isn't any postings about the specs, but it's a small difference. As long as you aren't using 90% memory and 80% cpu already; you'll be fine.

 

IF you can play rs on your computer smoothly, then it should work relatively fine on RS3

 

They plan on making it run natively on mobile devices as well, so you probably won't need a beast of a computer to play RS3. If you struggle, just turn down the eye candy and it should be fine.

 

Just a word of advice my friends. If you have a computer that CAN'T play RS3 that means it is time for an upgrade.

 

RS3, you have the option to play in Java or HTML5. There's no forced option for RS3. I'd say if you like the graphics and your computer can handle it, you can try HTML5. And if you don't fall into liking it or can handle it, you can still play in Java with most likely no lag.

 

Well it utilizes hardware quite bad using only 20-30% of GPU and getting ~40fps on low, ~20fps on maxed out. And while its maxed out uses only 30% of GPU.

 

Has anyone tried the HTML5 Beta on a Mac? I'm curious to know if the graphics settings like bloom that are unavailable with java will function in HTML5.

Any information on how it runs would be great, thanks.

EDIT: I tested out the beta once it was released publicly and found it worked decently on my iMac (2011) with Lion. There are issues with low FPS, but these aren't localized to macs as many people are having fps problems with different OS's.

 

It does not matter which OS you use, the difference is within the browsers.
Many HTML5 WebGL stuff (which RS3 uses) is still a bit experimental, and theres notable differences between firefox and chromium. Jagex mentioned chromium being their first choice a couple of times.

There should be no differences between chromium on osx or windows.
