Rares in the 2007 servers

Anyone have an idea as to how rares will be integrated? If everyone is starting fresh no one will have partyhats or anything.

 

Jagex hasn't thought too hard about this yet, although I've seen some very interesting ideas for potential solutions from the players on the RSOF.

To be completely honest though, I am incredulous that so many people are concerned about this. I think it would be kinda nice to see what the game would be like if we created a fresh economy from scratch, with no rare items. Jagex never intended rares to have any value in the first place and it was an unexpected consequence of creating discontinued items in a game where the population was rapidly expanding.

I don't know much about rares and the economy, but does anybody have an idea what the game might be like without these extremely valuable items circulating amongst the market?

 

It will be weird I guess, it wouldn't be 2007 if it didn't have Phats. Maybe around Christmas they will bring out crackers or when ever they did it.

 

The whole growth of the economy in general will be a very interesting spectacle.

I remember my very early days in RuneScape when rune items (particularly the rune 2h sword) as actually quite rare, as the only methods to really obtain rune back then was to smith it yourself. As the game was relatively new, very few people had the requirements to make this armour and as a result, these items were worth a LOT of money. I recall a point when R2H swords were worth millions of coins each - which in itself was a lot more money back then than it would be nowadays.

i hope they give the economy time to get stable before adding these discontinued items. there will be a lot of change in the economy in the first few months of the servers so if yhey add rares already, i think it will ruin the economy.

 

well probably shit. its what most of us stakers\pkers\gamblers use to hold our value so we don't need thousands of [insert any item here] and they help us people with vast amounts of wealth have something to look forward to still on the game.

I also don't see why anyone would be apposed to having rares in the game unless they are just jelly of the people with them. the people who have them gain nothing by having them.

 

To be honest, because people will have no reason to save their money for phats, demand for other high-level items will be higher, just leading them to be more expensive.

 

To be honest would it be so bad if rares doesnt exist in the new 2007 server? Rares have always been such a big part/influence on the community, they were an unintended accident, and completely useless other than for showing off/easy merchanting.

I honestly wouldnt mind if they didnt find a method to fairly put them back in, maybe it could be a positive thing for the new community to have no rares as the game was originally intended to be?

 

Well, the thing about Rares is, they are a great way for people to store wealth. The amount of gold in circulation for RS-2007 is not going to be a problem in the near-future. However, over time, people are going to start getting to the point where they are hitting the gold limit. Remember that in RS-2007, there is no Money Pouch, no Shards, and no GE slots.

However, if Jagex remains firm on the "No Rares", it is not the end of the world. There are other extremely rare / valuable items such as Third Age Armor set, which will become the new rich-people items.

 

Give everyone one of every rare, make them untradable

 

They should either do a drop party in the party room where they give out a load of rares, or they should make a couple of separate "cheat" servers, where you can spawn items on a different account save.

 

I don't think there should be any rares entered anyway, they weren't intended to be of such a high value in the first place.

 

Although this is true, but dont forget, 2007 was indeed very different, barely anyone in the entire game had over 2.1b cash, if i remember correctly a blue phat was around 400m-450m at this time.

So 2.1b really was INSANE. Nowdays, you have players with like 50b+, i really dont think it would be any issues with wealthy players unable to store their wealth, reaching 2.1b firstly for a 2007 server will be very hard, and secondly, like you stated, there will be other means of storing wealth, third-age, etc.

 

What are the most valuable items of 2007 RS?

 

I personally hope they do keep them in the game as items that can be traded.
Personally my method to introduce them into the game would to have them as something like a clue scroll reward for xx amount of time, or until xx amount are in the game.

That way everyone has a fair chance to go out and get one, no one is being given one for nothing and those who work hard and really grind it will make more which is exactly how rs was back them. Time pays

 

I remember full melee third-age set being about the price of a blue phat, approximately.

And i would say AGS but that came out shortly after August of 2007, so obviously it doesnt count.

 

Pretty good way of bringing them into the game, with one fundamental flaw; people would have no hair left. I hate clue-scrolls.

 

I would assume that it'll be throughout the yearly events. Just like they did when RSClassic was first released.
