No i dont think it ruins runescape, it unlocks more potential for fun and it can really start you off in merchanting to make your own (and alot more money than what you bought) faster.
unlike some games where if you cheat or max out in gold it ruins the expierence but runescape has so much more to offer at the high end of the game that i think in this case it actually helps you to enjoy runescape more.

Yes because once you buy gold and you lose it, you will buy more and more. If you never bought gold, you will know how hard you worked for it and will not lose it. Even if you lose it, you won't buy spending real cash to make it back, you will do either pvm or skilling.

Yes, as does botting. Ever since I got involved with RWT/Botting in 2008 RS was only a gambling outlet and a potential business venture. If you value having fun in the game, stay clear of both.

For me, no. I now have a little cash stack, nothing compared to most people, but i have some. I got enough to get by, i can level skills as i see fit and have some fun while doing so. I don't have enough to go and splurge out on 99 herblore within 2 days, but if i wanted i could get it within a couple weeks spending money wisely.

You just need to know your limits, buy enough to get by, don't buy a party hat because you think they are cool, you will end up losing it and buying another, or think that 2 would be better than 1 and then 2 weeks later you got a full set and a ton of IRL debt.

It depends I suppose, how much you buy and how often ... but I mean the game is pretty much ruined anyway (in my opinion) as everyone's making stupid money off gambling.

Was nice back in the day where you could graft for your money and it was a lot more rewarding. I loved mining and making bars, and then making armor for a small bit of cash when I first started playing - miss the simpleness and the fun of it all.

It ruins it for me, the fun of the game is constantly chasing GP, and by buying GP it ruins that fun, although it does unluck potential for other activities, you tend to be very careless with the bought GP, because you haven't exactly busted your ass on RS for it.

When I started buying gold and botting, the game was ruined for me. I used to have so much fun before actually trying to train and earn gold, when the max I had was like 1m. Now it's easy to get a max cash stack and all 99s, they're all worthless (well - not quite since they have a dollar value, but I mean worthless of your time).

Yup. Before I bought my first million (from Usfine coincidentally) the game was all about hardwork in order to achieve my goals.

After purchasing, I realized how much easier it was to do a bit of work IRL and then just purchase the gold (eg more gold / hr)

Even at a minimum wage job I could have 100's of mills a day, which was something I'd never even imagined.

Pretty much the same thing here. For me though, my gameplay is enhanced by it, so long as I am responsible with my real life money obligations first like rent, food, school bills etc.

Buying/selling gp and botting killed the fun for me. It became a lot more fun after I discovered those things...for like 2 weeks. It's for the best though, I might still be playing runescape today if it weren't for those things.

Overall, I think the kind of player who knows that buying gp would ruin their fun simply stays out of the market. As a gold seller, I had plenty of repeat non-gambling customers who really enjoyed saving hundreds of hours of monotonous gold farming. They found ways to reduce their play time immensely but still keep the game fun, I'm not sure what those methods are necessarily though

For me, it was getting back rares I had lost, which was a decent amount of money, but I was able to double and triple profits from those items. So eventually I made a little bit of a return on my purchase.

Methods for me to keep it interesting are just skilling, but only playing an hour or two a day or when very bored. It turns out to be a great game for that and I don't regret my rl money making that goal possible..because farming for it would have taken wayyyyyyyyy more hours.

    That's just my perspective. :)

As long as you don't buy too much, I don't think it ruins anything.
As you can see, I've done like 3 trades lol.

    It did to me, certainly.

Before 1 Feb 2011 I've never had more then 7M or so.

Once you start getting involved in the blackmarket, you will figure out that you can earn much more RSGP with far less effort.

This ruined it for me cause all I played for is GP.

Yes. I always find that with RS I buy RSGP to buy gear and do things like nex - things that I think will make the game more fun. But it never is as I never really work for my gp.

It's harder to earn Gold in the game now days, That's why people buy it more. I think buying it makes the game 10x more fun for the player imo.
