Earning a living from Runescape ?

(Sorry if this is in the wrong section)

I was just wondering all aspects of what it would be like, what you would have to do and at what lengths to run a business (enough income to earn a living) by means of real world trading via runescape (accounts, gold etc)

Do you know anybody that does ? Do you ?

Thought it would be an interesting topic, discuss !

    Happy new year all.

You would need to probably bot 20 accounts at once to get hold of gold and shift it all or another option is to merchandise by buying gold for cheap and selling it on for more.

It would be extremely difficult, you would need to be one of the top traders on Sythe, and since prices fluctuate quite often, it's also risky business.
    Certainly possible though.

You would need to originally be semi-financially stable to start off by buying yourself a VPS(or a few), scripts, members, ect & then you need to give it time(letting the money sit there) until your accs have sufficient skills, then you'll probably be running them at 14 hours on, 10 off.
    Expenses
    30 accounts X $5 membs >> $150
    3-5 vps >> $60-100
Scripts(not sure if 1 script = unlimited bots or what anymore) >> either $5 ish for 1 script or $150 for scripts for all accs <- this payment is counted as an initial investment & isn't montly

    Profits
    30 accs X 200K per hour(14 hrs a day, 30 days a month) >> 84M a day or 2520M per month minus the ban rate of probably 5 every 30, so like around 2B profit >> $600 profit

    $600 - $300 = +$300 a month
So like $10 per bot a month. If you run hundreds of bots that make more than the example of 200K an around, you'll make bank

    I'm pretty sure a lot of the hosts in the top dicing/flower gambling can earn a living off their commission;

Most take 10% commission off the pots they host, and im pretty sure the top hosts can easily average 500M worth of pots per hour, from which they will take 50M commission p/h, which at current prices is equal to around $20 an hour, or £11-12 an hour, which is about double a minimum-wage job, and is equal to at full-time work (say a 35-hour week) - £12 * 35 * 52 = £21000 per annum from doing that. When looked in this way, it does look pretty lucrative, as its a stress-free job with flexible hours from home :)

However with fluctuating gold prices, bans for rwt, and the unsure future industry for RS gambling, it is very risky, but although i went on a bit of a tangent, yes it is very possible to earn a semi-decent living :)

Only a few sythe members have managed to do this and solely rely on it from what I know, R2P, KMJT, Arcus and Grave. They have made a lot of cash from it though, and they have all got HUGE gold shops, they hire people and I'm pretty sure they used to have the biggest botfarms on sythe as well, with KMJT's having hundreds of bots running at once.

But it's not like everyone buys huge amounts everyday..
Although making a living via RSGP, I personally think it's a great accomplishment to earn a lot of money via Gold selling but one shouldn't rely on Virtual Goods alone to make a living..

As IDB stated, the few on Sythe that rely on RSGP/Runescape as a main source of income are the big time gold sellers, all of whom have established gold selling websites.

Legally, some of these websites may not hold up to scrutiny by governmental agencies with regards to legality/taxes, so that is something to think about.

I would say yes ,if you live in some third world countries and you do not have high living costs, othervise you would need very big bot farm with some special scripts ,that can earn you 200k/hr ,which is big problem in today RS. And yes if you would do all legaly ,that there is probably chance in these countries.

Gold selling is a VERY risky business, you will need to have a good amount of stock ready incase someone wants to order a big gold order, and to get that gold you must either, merch off other gold selling websites by buying for less and selling for more but still be good priced, now if you do it the bot way you probably would have to have like 20 accounts or so going to get a good amount of rs gold in to stock up, also if jagex finds out you doing this you could have a lawsuit and all your accounts get banned, so its a big risk. IT TAKES MONEY TO EARN MONEY, always remember that. the prices of gold are unreliable also, they change a lot and it would be extremely difficult to have the business in my opioion. you also would have to be highly trusted and be well known in the community and advirtise alot, not many people make a living off of selling runescape gold or accounts, only a few due here I think on sythe, but not many.
