I am getting DDoSd... help!

So I was talking to some kid on skype and he messages me my IP address and says that if I don't give him 1b (RuneScape currency worth around $500 USD) he will continue to DDoS me. I know that his actions are highly illegal too...

My question: I just got a new router, and I was using that when he started the attack. I reset my router+modem and I have not been able to get my router to work for the past few hours. I hooked up an old router which works fine, but I want to get my new one working.

How do I fix my router that got DDoSd? And what is even going on that is making it not work... What should I do?!

Your router is not broken or anything. He can only DDoS your IP. You can reset your IP through system command or ring your ISP and explain the situation, they'll be happy to help.

 

Explain "system command". I have access to the 192.168.1.1 page... what can I do there to fix it?

A lot of the time simply turning off your router for a while and then turning it back on should do the trick.

Alternatively, take a break off the internet for a while :embar:

Unplug your modem, reset your ip.

Think about who you were on skype with that might want your ip and ddos your internet. If it wasnt from skype just simply change the ip and try not to let anyone else know, being ddosed sucks, I got a couple rank 1 wow titles and I recently lost rank 1 by like 9 pts to ddosers lol. just from being on skype.

 

You can contact your service provider and have them change your IP or you can change it yourself, just look it up on youtube and there are multiply videos showing how to do so.

 

99/100 times ipconfig commands or unplugging router / modem won't work

log in on your router (if typed ipconfig in command the default gateway there is ur router). Type that ip in browser and log in on there usually username admin pass admin.

Try to find anywhere in the router settings mac cloning, enable that and reboot / replug everything and you should have a new ip.

if you don't have mac cloning specifically, check if you can change your WAN Mac Address anywhere in the settings and do the same after that.

oh and ofcourse block him on skype etc or he can get your new ip within seconds..

 

Resetting router usualy works for me, I'm sure theirs something you done wrong.

 

As far as my knowledge goes, if your IP in dynamic, if you just turn your router off for a few hours then plug it back in you will have a new IP. If it is static the easiest thing to do is ring your ISP and explain your being ddosed and request a new IP.

 

Couldn't agree more, i've done this before as i've been DDOSed through Skype as well. The ISP will gladly help you.

 

I had almost same problem but I was getting ddosed while doing stakes. I'd suggest you change your skype and call ISP if can they change IP for you if you have static. In my situation I need to go to customer support to change some things in agreement.

 

Call your ISP, as long as you are courteous try should help you quickly and efficiently, saving u all this time researching methods posted anove

 

1. Remove the skid from skype or tell him you will call the police since it is illegal
2. Get your IP changed
3. No more DDOS

 

I would personally go the authorities to be honest, he has no right to do that and if anything is breaking several computer laws.

Call your ISP, explain what is going on and have your IP changed. Be sure to block him on Skype beforehand so he can't grab your new IP. Do not under any circumstances give him any money or anything.

Also, your router is fine, just reset it if it is playing up.

 

Call your ISP, tell them you are having internet connection problems, they will find the issue and change your IP.
