I've heard you can get 99 smithing for 27m. Is there anyway to do it cheaper or make a possible profit? Even if you sacrifice time?

    Thanks

    What about this?

    Part 1
    Part 2

It's got commentary, very lengthy; but it's full of information.

There is one method I know of, however it incorporates other skills to nullify your loss, and possibly make a profit.

    Method:

Purchase Gold Ore, and smelt with gauntlets.
Craft Gold Bars into Bracelets (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you use Sapphire and Emerald Jewels as they reduce the loss margin significantly).
    Hi Alch Bracelets.

This will leave you depending on market circumstances with a 50± profit/loss margin.

You will also get 99 crafting, if not close to it.
You will also get 99 magic, if not close to it.

Thanks, just watched the whole thing, but unfortunately thats the OPPOSITE of what i want, thats the fastest way disregarding cost, I want the slowest way minimizing cost! :)

Wow this sounds really cost effective! How much RSGP is recommended to start out like this?

Super heating is the cheapest (Fast) way to do it. And you will also ge 99 magic from it , YOU MUST use gold gauntlets though.

The only way to train Smithing with nature runes that I can think of is Super Heating.

Anyways, at the OP. I got 99 Smithing about 6 months ago, I smelted gold bars with goldsmithing gauntlets for the long haul of it. At the time it costed me about 35m. However now I believe the prices have dropped and it should be in your budget.

Also you asked if there was any way to profit, you can profit making some types of knives, however this is very slow exp and not that much profit.

Mine all your gold ores, smith them into gold bars and as someone else said, craft them into bracelets (with gems).

You'll get 99 crafting too, and 99 mining, and you shouldn't make a loss.

4 cannon balls from 1 bar of steel i think? = good profit. not sure about the xp rate. cannonballs are like 400gp+ i think last time i checked.

steel bars = profit. they sell for around 650gp (which is above asking price at g/e, i never have a problem getting 650-655 for them). 2k coal (they fluctuate between 195-205 per ore) about 410k, 1k iron about 94k (bounce between 89-96 gp each ore it seems), so u need roughly 510k to start, and its all profit from there if ur smelting steel bars... however its slow.

i noticed smelting gold is pretty dam fast...even without gauntlets... im working on getting mine. gold is pretty quick i think but i havent figured out the costs yet.

    thats all i know

That it no way helps in answering his question. Just getting your post count up i see?

Ot: Now that ive thought about it you can get 99 smithing doing the artisan minigame but its fairly slow. Not really that cost effective either.
