Duel Arena setup

I just have a question about duelling someone, let's say it's Melee only...

What gear would you recommend (weapon as well)

Assuming no prayer + food/pots.

EDIT: I'm thinking the best melee setup would be Full Torva, Chaotic Longsword, Fury, Dragon Boots, Fire Cape, DFS?

And for spec I would guess D claws?

 

Everything is right except:

Ely>DFS (possibly CKS, but I'm not too sure how I'd feel about sacrificing +7 str)
VLS>claws

 

Completionist Cape is better than Fire Cape. And, VLS is by far the best special weapon for an armor-on duel. You'd be lucky to hit much with D Claws without being able to use Turmoil and a Super Attack.

 

thanks for the replies guys. I'll use a VLS for the spec but I'm still not sure whether or not to use the Ely.

I want to stay at or under 120 combat...

So I was planning on having 99 atk, str, def and hp and maybe like 43 prayer for jad since i won't be getting the completionist cape...

But if I have the stats mentioned above...then I won't be able to equip and Ely and I will be using a DFS

Another scenario is if I have 99 atk, str and hp. I will have 90 def and 75 prayer so I can equip the ely.


The question is, is it worth it to sacrifice 9 defence levels to use an Ely?

EDIT: Also, for a scenario like this (simply duelling without food, pray and pots at duel arena) would a CLS be better than a chaotic rapier? I think a CLS would be better but I'm not completely sure.

 

Is Completionist cape really better then fire cape?

 

Slightly, but it takes sooo much more to get that you shouldn't get it for the sole purpose of a better cape
