Your Account is locked - How CAN this happen?

Hey, someone is interested in one of my accounts, which I'm the original owner of. They want me to promise a refund if it's locked...so,

I'm curious, is the ONLY way for an account to get locked be by having the original owner try and recover it?

I don't want to promise a refund, if it can get locked by him selling it to someone in the future, then trying to recover it himself.

 

It's a loophole that, unfortunately, some people try to abuse. I've had someone try to pull this scam on me, so I searched up their sythe posts, found they sold it, and refused to recover it for them, quoting that they sold it. They deleted me and that was the last of it. The new owner is quite nice. Just be sure to do your research before you do anything.

 

the only way an account is locked as far as i know is if jagex suspects suspicious activity on the account and does it

i,e, new and multiple ips logging in daily along with new email and auth on it. happened to one of my accounts previously

not to often are accounts locked anymore and rarely do i think they are done by the original owner recovering

 

That's kind of an odd request - he won't be satisfied if you just promise to help unlock it for him?

But yeah, usually the only way for an account to get locked is by having a recovery request (with somewhat correct information) submitted for the account. From there another request with more comprehensive recovery information is needed to unlock it and reset the password. There might be certain cases where drastic IP changes may trigger a lock on an account, but I haven't really heard of this happening.

 

On the contrary, accounts are actually locked more often than you'd imagine. I've had accounts locked a few times after buying them. I have one that's been locked for around 4 months, the original owner is never online anymore. So it doesn't always have to do with them trying to recover it

 

It can get locked for various reasons. Why would you promise him a refund if the account gets locked? Just unlock the account for him if it comes to that.

 

I wouldn't do a refund, I would just promise to unlock it

 

General protocol with account sales is that if the account gets locked and you can't recover it then you will need to reimburse the said "Buyer" party.
However if you can manage to get it unlocked then you won't have to refund them and you can simply transfer the account back over to them like you did the first time.

This is all standard practice unless there are some outside terms that are agreed upon during the time of the deal.

 

I wouldn't even bother simply because it's an odd request. Offer to sell to him, but offer to recover instead of refund if it gets locked.

 

I am the guy buying the account.

I already fell to 2 trusted members on sythe who had vouches. Both are now banned + got full refund from paypal after winning the disputes.

Account ALWAYS got locked due to them "being stolen". when accounts get locked for that reason it means THE ORIGINAL OWNER tried to recover the account.

Now when I tried talking with them they both said "you tried to sell it" bla bla, though I was smart and managed to obtain proof they did recover them.

Now I want to protect myself from this happening by a simple request - if the account get locked from that reason - "locked due a suspicion it was stolen" - I will get a full refund of my money since its 99.9% chance the original owner was the one to lock it by trying to recover.

If I have such promise written - it will be easy to charge-back incase of recovery.

I must do say that the price for the account is kinda cheap, a fact that makes me shake as well.

 

I do a lot of long term account rentals. Sometimes my accounts are locked on the grounds that the IP has changed countries, even though I have not submitted a recovery request.
