Adding too much to 2007?

Does anyone feel their adding too much EoC to 2007, so much so they are trying to find out the perfect balance between both.

 

Certainly feels like it sometimes. I'm not averse to new content to keep the game compelling but sometimes I feel like it could do with some slower updates.

I'm still trying to get over the GE being put in. I realize it was also in 2007...but it just caters to laziness.

It is what it is though, it's coming whether I like it or not.

I worry this is a gateway into even more stuff being thrown into the game.

 

If there wasn't weekly updates people would complain. I find it perfect.

I could do with it being updated once a month. Weekly seems overkill to me, unless they're just quality of life type updates, then yeah weekly is fine.

 

I wouldn't have a problem with this, except for the fact that it leads us down the slippery slope to Evolution of Cock and all the other updates that ruined RS. Thankfully, the 07 team vowed to never introduce a "Squeal Wheel" or anything of that nature. I was 50/50 on the GE, but I suppose I can adapt. As long as the community is happy, and we remain as nostalgic as possible, I'm happy.

Couldn't agree more. Practicality is the name of the game for Runescape 3, not Old School. I can make some concessions such as GE, but not many more.

 

Yeah... i can see how the updates are too fast. But thats also partially due to the fact I only play an hr or 2 a day and more on the weekends whereas people play 5+ hours a day and I'd understand that theyd get frustrated if there werent constant updates

 

i can say the same, you speak for yourself. people have different opinions and if you think weekly updates ruin the game well what's the difference updating the game once a month and packing all of their updates in 1 shot?

 

Rofl. I did speak for myself. You made a blanket statement. Big difference. You made an assumption about the majority when in reality it's just your opinion.

I said quality of life updates would be fine weekly - in my opinion. I didn't say "everyone wants this". Anyway, I digress - I don't see the point of weekly updates (unless they're quality of life) - why? Because that's what Runescape 3 is for. That's the game that's supposed to be constantly evolving and getting new content.

All I'm saying is your original comment seemed to imply you knew the majority opinion.

Now if you back it up with some statistics or evidence then yeah, I'll not tell you to "speak for yourself" - which you weren't in your initial post. No need to get angry, I was just pointing out my opinion is different so it'd be wise to make responses based on just your opinions and not assume things for others (unless of course like I said you have statistics).

 

What i believe jagex are doing here is; Trying to go back in time and bring out the good updates without making the mistakes of the bad ones, it's kind of free for all with updates and its great cause they poll them so we can choose

 

I like the new shit that they release- such as Zulrah, rather than releasing old rs2 content back in.

 

It's a good thing imo. Plus almost everything is voted by us, so we only get updates that we really want. Sometimes it doesn't go well for the other 25% that dont want the update though.

 

Yeah, I'm glad its 75% actually so it makes it semi difficult to get things passed. Hopefully it stays that way and as long as jagex doesn't go their own way everything won't go too far downhill. Only problem is getting new players

 

Yes, they're taking content that's already in RS3 and distorting it to make it fit in the oldschool niche. I wish they would use their heads to come up with unique updates that isn't already in the main game. I sort of understand that RS3 has a lot of good updates, so maybe they're trying to incorporate the good ones, and leave out the bad ones. It's only a matter of time til the version of the game exceeds 2009.

 

That's basically what we wanted Pre EoC version of the game, if they would've left OSRS as it was from the first day with no updates, it would have 5k players tops if not less, new content is great i don't get why people bitch about it.

 

Well I don't have any problem with it, most updates have been good and Jagex makes polls etc. to ask player's opinions rather than making decisions on their own without asking from players which was the way Jagex did updates before.

 

They can update the game without copy and pasting content.

Copy and paste content = Usually redundant and pointless and I don't understand why people aren't just on RS3 if they want that type of content.

 

This is exactly how I feel.

I have no issues with the new add-ons, hell it's great they're trying to keep the game alive. Things like Zulrah and such are awesome. As long as they don't destroy the combat system and make the game entirely about micro transactions I likely won't care

 

I wouldn't worry too much about 07 becoming eoc, because in order for this to happen 75% of the community would have to vote yes, which would never happen with anything more extreme than adding the GE.
