Why Legacy wont affect 07! Read

"Right now the Runescape world is abuzz with this Legacy poll. I know some people have already braced for impact and are at the moment preaching doom in the forums. Thanks to Jagex's *****-ups in the past, they probably have every right to do so, but I want to share some reasons why that even if this passes a poll, it's not going to be the Legacy we knew and loved at one point.

First, it's not the same. At all. Even close. Dual-wielding for one. Confirmed that it will exist inside legacy mode. I'm sure there will be plenty of of other things that, as soon as people itching to play legacy log on, they realize why they quit in the first place.

That leads me to the second point. How many of you have actually logged into the main game..? The amount of micro-transactions and dead content make me want to vomit all over my keyboard. I can't even begin to imagine what will happen to people who play solely for legacy mode..It certainly won't make people who enjoy '07 happy.
It won't make the pking crowd happy either...I promise no one likes being saturated in micro-transactions, which WILL 100% be in the Legacy mode. Mod Mark's not giving up his bread and butter. I quit because of the influx of dead content and micro's and they will never leave RS3, and Legacy.

Which leaves me with one last thing to talk about, and that's how it's going to be a unmitigated disaster. If you remember at all how horrible EOC was at first, and how long it took for things to get fixed, and how long it took everyone to adapt to it, now think about how it's going to work having TWO different combat systems, and basically two styles of gameplay going on at the same time. Skilling will be dead for Legacy, no competition with the toolbar thing they have attached to the hotkeys. Some bosses are only gonna be Legacied, leaving a very limited gameplay for everyone on RS3. Leaving hybriding, the only thing that really can be done effectively on this mode. Or can it? With all the new items and slots and things introduced, how will this even work..? It won't be a happy union I promise you this.

So I think it's a bit early to jump ship. Our dev's have plenty of good updates that will draw more and more people. Just this month we've seen a good increase. The game will survive on the satisfying gameplay, old school graphics, and the simple but fun combat style we all love.

I'll likely be sticking around for 07 whether Legacy goes through or not. The updates the dev team has set up for 07's wilderness has me excited for the future of 07 pking.

All in all, no matter the circumstances I'll likely be sticking with 07.

 

Ill be sticking with 07 as well, its gonna have a lot of new updates and even with legacy I doubt it can bring back the same feel in the past

 

I agree with you both. Hopefully most of our playerbase is thinking the same

 

Thanks for clearing this out Anton I didn't know about the dual wield in Leagacy Mode. I thought it was going to be exactly like the 2012 era of Runescape but I suppose not.. I was dissapointed because many players worked hard to acheive in OSRS and they won't want to leave it but thanks for clearing things out . Had no idea beside about the old combat system in Legacy Mode.
ANd to all my OSRS friends, I don't think its worth leaving Oldschool for this because again its an update and It still has negative sides to it.

07 will be affected, but not to a high degree.

The hype itself will drive users away. The nightmare zone also played a huge factor in the destruction of old school which was only nerfed a while ago.

Legacy mode isn't what it seems to those who don't read carefully. They are too misguided and blind with nostalgia to even care. The smart players will really profit off this.

07 will take a hard hit from this because some players..some..went away from EOC style to get the nostalgia back and old combat system.

Nostalgia will be transferring from 07 to Legacy mode. The problem I feel is there will be a three-way divide in the communities now. And I may be wrong..but either 07, legacy or eoc will take a hard hit from all this.

and it will not be legacy, for damn sure.

 

Well it wont be the same, as stated above. We'll just have to see if players can adapt to hitting 80+ with duel wielded drygores

 

I have no clue about what the real outcome will end out to be. However, I believe it is heavily dependent on how Jagex is able to integrate such a way of having both pre-eoc and eoc combat systems available. I can't imagine how they would make it in a clean fashion though. >.<

 

07's the best in my opinion. they haven't made any bad updates in 07 yet honestly..

 

agreed, they havent made any bad updates since everything is voted on by the people.

 

i think alot of people have sold their eoc accounts, and made a new 07 so wont effect much since people dont wanna start over on eoc.

 

I don't understand why you think skilling will be dead because of this. From the video they mentioned just having a toggle for the combat mode, so if you're looking for bind keys (apparently they have that in RS3? Don't play it) wouldn't that mean you can just toggle it on/off when you want to skill?

I'm not sure how they plan to pull this off, but if they do it -well- (doubtful), I think it'll be cool.

If they would slow down on the updates, they wouldn't starting thinking of these STUPID updates. It's really a shame.

 

The economy in the live game is just absolutely messed up. Even if they did this "legacy mode" there's no way I would play it. The only way I'd consider it is if they made everyone start from scratch in this mode. There are just way too many high levels and rich people in the main game which takes the fun out of the game. I don't know, that's just my opinion.

 

Between the messed up economy, ridiculous updates, pay-to-win, and unreasonably fast skilling XP rates, I'll be sticking to '07 for sure. I may just stop by once in a while if my old friends start playing again, but I certainly won't be back to play.

 

It's most likely going to be a summer release, so it's way too soon to say anything.

 

Ehh, it'll affect it somewhat. People that wanted old servers: a lot of them wanted 2012-scape but felt 07 was better than nothing since they didnt have a back-up of 2012 so legacy may suit them better than eoc.

Other than that I've no idea why anyone felt Legacy would affect 07.
