What kind of ads should I implement into my iOS app?

I am looking to implement advertisements into a public transit app I made (to make money of course). I am looking for a rough idea what I would be making from the iAd that users can choose to enable per month. I realize that there are a lot of factors so I am looking for a very rough idea since I have never implemented advertisements before. The app should have around 1000 unique users a day.

My other option would be to advertise for a business located near the bus terminal. Am I even able to implement custom advertisements like this (not going through iAd)? I think I can get $500-$1000 from a business for a 1 month advertisement on my app.

Or see if you can get another deal without paying at first. If you look youll probably find some advertising services where you be able to get some free adxertising for new businesses. Try to utilize them before you start paying out of pocket, so you don't have to risk money trying to find the right advertising.

Pick the keywords best target your customers.

I haven't yet used iAd as my apps have been paid-apps..

But as for custom advertising, I made it so when a switch between viewcontrollers is performed there's a random chance it will load a new view controller with a random chance of a particular advertisement, which in turn can be closed after 3 seconds. Or pressed to go to their webpage.

Then I just logged the data to $_POST to a .php script to log the data of whether it was pressed, closed, time viewed for.. etc..

But as for iAd, I didn't know you could set particular advertisements, I was under the impression it was random. But hey, you learn something every day!

So will you be running iAd a long side your custom advertisements?

You'll have to read through the iAd API as it's very easy to "misuse" their system, i.e. Loading multiple instances between viewcontrollers which will get your app rejected.

I would suggest using iAd. It is very easy to integrate and with regular users gets a lot of money.
