Legion gives me mixed feelings, as a gold farmer (I don't sell I just farm for myself and my brother & father) having balanced druids nerfed bums me out as I currently have 6 741 balanced druids for gold farming set-ups. I however love the fact that Legion is finally giving gold farmers there own "leet" mount. There have been tons of PvP mounts I have missed out on due to me not being able to get Glad, though I haven't missed out on any raid pets I am sure PvPers have the same sadness. Finally we have a gold farming mount to show off how good we are at gold farming (or how rich you are for buying 2M gold.)

I am half excited for the new artifact weapons, but as being a PvE master I am sad that I will no longer have a weapon drop to look forward to, as most of my PvE brethren know the weapon drop is always the most exciting to see.

Though I will no longer have a real need for my 6 accounts, I am excited that we are getting new druid skins as well.

On an ending note I am just happy there's finally new content again.

That's what I fear. I haven't checked the AH in forever but I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to afford one anymore. I had just under 500k going into WoD which I would say was decent for the time and probably would have been able to pick one up for less than that then. I hit 100 and got bored and pretty much dropped the game save for a few months here and there and never really got around to the optimal Garrison setup. From what I read, it isn't uncommon for people to have a few million gold across their accounts solely from setting up their garrison workers with the correct treasure hunter skills.

Honestly some of the most fun gameplay I've had in WoW was in PvP. The reason why I've stuck around the game for so long though was the fun in finding a dedicated PvE group. After a while, no matter what you do, the game is going to get stale. The reason why WoW has stayed popular for so long is its community. It might not be what it once used to be, but the people that are still there are truly dedicated to it.

As for now though, I'll be focusing on PvP as well in the next expansion. I just don't have time like I used to, when I was in charge of raids it felt like having a full time job. I don't like to PvE unless I'm doing top tier content, but in order to do that I have to dedicate so much time so it just isn't worth getting back into it for me. PvP is much easier to be successful as a skilled, casual player.

If anyone is wanting to run with a group for mythics, I'm a healer with 2 DPS friends, we'll be doing a few tonight.
You can come gear up your alt (if you're dps) or come for a quick valor run.

I have played a WW Monk since the start of MoP. Something about the spec just clicked for me.

I never was very into the PvM aspect of WoW and usually only played the game for PvP (outside challenge modes that I would do with my friends).

Having played the game on and off for years now, I've sold multiple monk accounts. The highest rating I've ever achieved on one of my monks was 2500 playing WWLS at the end of MoP.

When WoD came out I was very disappointed from a PvP standpoint. The game got stagnant and the high-rated arena brackets were dominated by everything/anything RMD/godcomp.

I sit here watching WoW streams as I play RS and I really miss the game. I've never had more fun playing a video game then I did when I was on my WW Monk doing arenas/bgs/etc.

(TL;DR) From a STRICT PvP standpoint, how do you all think Legion will compare to WoD?

As far as balance wise, I honestly have no clue how PvP during Legion PvP will turn out. Take this with a grain of salt since I haven't been looking extensively (honestly really at all) into the new spec changes, but knowing that many things are getting mixed up (melee hunters, some specs identities are changing completely, I hear there is a "ranged" rogue spec now that replaced combat?) I think at least GIVING IT A SHOT will be well worth it. You may not have been playing WoW as long as some people, but I can see you've played it long enough to understand how things can get stale, especially in PvP. For me, I used to run arenas competitively through S6, and at that point I was just done with PvP. I had dealt with enough RMP / FoTM cookie cutter comps and I just didn't enjoy facing the same classes and executing the same strats each game. Seeing everything get tossed up in the air like this is going to destroy those cookie cutter comps, at least until people find out what is most optimal. Personally, I find it the most fun playing in this "discovery" phase, even if I'm getting shat on.

    Warlocks. Warlocks. WARLOCKS EVERYWHERE.
I can't stand them, I'm both into PVP and PVE and in both PVE and PVP Warlocks will and cannot die, there are so many things they need to find tune with classes.
Is anyone else aware of the PVP change? Gear doesn't matter anymore, for every ilvl over 800 you gain 0.1% to your overall stats.. So if you become ilvl815 you will only have 1.5% more stats than someone in ilvl800.. Which in my mind is rubbish, if we grind for the gear, I expect to be far stronger than someone who hasn't.

I currently play as a level 100 Monk (Mistweaver) but due to a lot of nerfs their heals are not the best anymore.

Really? What seems to be the problem? My mistweaver seems to be extremely strong in raiding groups.
Although we can't fistweave anymore, our healing output is still very strong.

I probably do not have the needed gear for the raids in the most recent patch. Would it be better to have a two hand staff or a 1 hand and 1 off hand weapon?

It doesn't matter anymore, as off-hand enchants aren't a thing anymore, and unless you're raiding mythic every week to get an main + OH with slightly better stats than a staff, go with whatever you have. I personally use a staff because the xmog looks awesome.

How is everyone enjoying Demon Hunters? Personally They have a load of mobility and it's a shame to see their maximized DPS includes fel rush on CD which means we're constantly on the move if we want to maximize our DPS.

The new events are a breath of fresh air, no more grinding the same thing for 1 year.

Not sure if this is where I should post this but I will anyway. I want to preorder Legion and try to get into the game but I wouldn't have any idea where to start. I started playing in MoP with my friend, leveled a few accounts to 90 (I think was the max level). Only thing is I never did any raids or anything afterwards. WoD came around, I bought it and didn't like it so I stopped until now.

Really my question is what would there be for a newcomer to do? Grind the quests, and then just raid? Any tips/advice would be sweet because I really want to try it, just have no idea what I'd be able to do.

What do you prefer PvE or PvP? Right now the best thing to do is do the current Broken Shore questline and start invasions, (you'll see them as big swirly things on your map) once you fly there you can kill mobs and bosses which will grant you boxes that have ilvl700 gear in them and also a ilvl700 weapon which you can upgrade while doing invasions.

Guide to the Legion Prelaunch Event and Invasions - Guides - Wowhead

This article goes more in-depth, get yourself some ilvl700 gear and get prepared for leveling in Legion :)

Jump right in man, explore a bit and do what "feels right". At this stage of the game, WoW has done a very good job of allowing people to pretty much jump right in and have fun with whatever aspect of the game that they're interested in. I think the best first step is to hit max level on a character to "figure out" how to play the game. As of recent, I know ilvl is standardized (to an extent) in PvP, allowing pretty much anyone to hop into a BG queue and be competitive even as a fresh 100 (or 110 when legion drops) instead of the week long mindless honor grind you had to do before to get a starter PvP set.

As for PvE, download Deadly Boss mods and give raiding a shot! Blizz has been making it increasingly easier to get into raids through the LFR tool. It's a dumbed down system to run raids, and it drops lower level ilvl gear. It is great to introducing newer raiders to the fights and helps get them prepared to run the normal / heroic / mythic versions down the line.

If PvE / PvP isn't your forte, there still are tons and tons of things to do in the game. I know people that absolutely love farming old world content in search of rare transmog items. I have a few buddies who love being "altaholics" and enjoy the leveling experience throughout the world moreso than running raids each week. There really isn't a "right or wrong" way to play, similar to how RS is.
