    Two-Factor Authentication

    Hey everybody,

So after reading about some recent trades and the possibility of being hacked midway through everyday transactions, it moved me enough to figure out how to enable 2FA on my platforms. The nice thing is that I found a site that can teach you how to turn on 2FA for all different kinds of things, especially for some platforms that help us all conduct business on our beloved Sythe. The link below will take you to the site with all different categories on how to enable 2FA for the things you love most. Hope this helps with keeping you secure! Have a great day, guys!

Two Factor Authentication Tutorials | Turn on 2FA

EDIT -- I should make it clear that I DO NOT OWN THIS SITE. I'm merely giving it a plug here for reference use of other Sythe users and passersby. I care about keeping this community safe and would like to see people have their accounts secure.

Thanks for the tutorial, I know some people don't turn on 2FA because they're lazy or don't know how to. Hopefully this will help.

And that's exactly an idea I want to change, as it's something that can protect users where they need it most.

Thanks for this. I've always kept all of my accounts etc with a two factor authentication system... Although not all have like the Google Authenticator code generator as a form of the recovery or authentication options.. one thing I'm curious about and I'm unsure if this even correlates (sorry if it doesn't)... but for Skype, can anyone clarify why is the whole "live:" (e.g. live:appleandorange) type of username/ skype accounts is apparently more secure then a normal username per-say?

I've heard it's, because of 2factor authentication, but I know you can do the same for a non-live: account.

    That's something that's puzzling me.

I don't know how to 2fa a non-live: account, but everyone has live: accounts because they 2fa the email itself, which in turn 2fa's the Skype attached to it.

I mean when you have a non:live account, that has an email attached, the email can be 2FA, so.. I'm assuming the skype is then 2FA. It's basically the same thing, I'm 100% sure my non-live account is 2FA through the email attached in the same process. Again I'm now presuming it 2FA the skype, thats why I'm puzzled why or whether it's necessary for me to upgrade.

Skype accounts that are non live: were typically created before Microsoft bought Skype and therefor not linked to a MS Account... This means that when you trade or deal with a non live: account then you cannot be assured that's its 2FA

Bear in mind, it IS possible that the user has linked their old skype name to their MS Account but there is no way for you as a Sythe user to know this. Hence why should only trade with someone who possesses a live: Skype name. There is your answer lol :)

I made a suggestion two years ago to require OMM's to use live: accounts that was approved

    Skype Two Factor Authentication Requirement.

Ok thank you for clarifying. I was thinking I was going mad, because I KNOW my skype account is 2FA'd without the necessity of changing it to a live:. But it totally makes sense that not all users will know that a non-live: can be 100% 2FA. Sad.

2FA is really good. 3 Factor is even better - I can't remember the stats but it's some insanely huge jump in terms of security from 2 to 3.
