I don't get what you're saying. You say that users will still have to donate to verify their phone, then you're giving options that don't require such thing? I'm confused.

So many people have it. It's unrealistic to remove it at this point unless you offer a refund or something equally enticing, and even then you'll have unsatisfied users, so that's an iffy roue.

 

I don't see the $5 payment for SVU as a donation. Right now there's a $25 donation requirement to buy SVU for $5. I want non-donators with the specific requirements stated in my earlier posts to be able to buy SVU for $5.

 

I mean your requirements cater to probably 5% of the userbase. I just can't see many users who would be benefiting from those requirements since most would already have SVU under those requirements, coupled with many users not wanting SVU to begin with. You can add a requirement to it, but it doesn't change the current situation much.

 

Maybe there won't be many users taking advantage of it but I think it's nice to have it available to non-donators also. I'm not saying that it's hugely important. Changing the requirements is what this suggestion is about and I support that.

 

What about keeping it, just making it more meaningful. What I mean by that is in the market I would rather trade with a Sythe Verified person, than non-verified. It would help with trades imo.

At least if someone scams as SVU sythe makes $30. If someone gets SVU via post count then what do they have to lose if they decide to scam? If you want to look more legitimate then pay the $30.

 

Being legitimate doesn't have much to do with SVU.. cconsidering the amount of people who have it, and the many scammers/vaders who obtain it when they join.

I was considering of purchasing or "donating" to SVU just on the basis that if my authenticator on phone failed/2fa had me stuck out of my account, then using the PayPal email for donations could get me access to my account.

@Superfluous is it really a good idea for SVU to be removed based on above?

Come to think of it, now I remember there was a lot of pro and cons to whether SVU should still exist. /:

 

I kind of agree SVU has no meaning, but still it's a protection layer added to the system. I don't think removing it would make much sense, but I also disagree with the idea of the OP.

 

The whole SVU rank is about being verified as a person with a traceable identity. It is not contingent with the amount of trust someone has earned..

Support, right now with the system in place its literally Sythe saying. Hey if you want SYTHE VERIFIED USER. Which grants Sythe verifying you like the rank clearly says. Obviously adds some sort of worth/ trust. And people are just BUYING that, not EARNING or having even the POTENTIAL to earn it.

 

It's very unlikely that SVU will become free for any member, as their is a cost associated with the system as a text message is sent to members, as well as being used to verify the members account. Also, it's worth noting that soon, the current level of SVU will be considered the lowest level when the new SVU updates come in.

Because then we'd have ton's of svu. It may not mean much in terms of rep or trust, but it would look awful to have that many.

 

In my opinion the name itself should be changed. Sythe verified user gives newcomers a false impression that the person is very trusted.

 

bigger the donor less the required time or posts and vise versa?

$25 donor, 5 year account
$50 donor, 3 year account
$100 donor, 1 year account

and so on..... disagree with the posts as some people spam threads.

 

What do you guys think about this (suggested awhile back)

* Changing the name so that it does not convey trust (i.e. change the wording, so no more verified)
* Change it from a rank to a minirank
