Depressed over the money that I have spent online

So basically I started buying stuff online like video games in 2012 and now I am regretting that I spent over like 800$ of my parents, it's actually my allowance (money that they give every month, they used to give me 60$ each month back for 6 months in 2013 for being great at school) and lunch money that I saved for over 3 years and I've been depressed about it for 3 months now until I have thought that I don't really have to buy almost everything to make myself "cool".

What do you guys think should I do? Maybe should I just let go off this and maybe do my parents a favor in return (maybe be a better person as I am a very lazy person, I'm almost to college and i still lack responsibility, I don't do most of the house hold chores except when cleaning my OWN room) since I couldn't do anything because I was let's say pretty young, reckless and very materialistic person that time but I am admitting that I was very spoiled when I was younger that's probably how I became like this.

I also spend a lot of money online, I just look at it as instead of going out drinking I spent it on my hobby of gaming. If it's your allowance surely you can spend it on what you want and at least you're not spending it on drugs and actually enjoying the things you're spending it on.

3 words. Get over it. It's not worth being depressed over a couple hundred bucks. You can earn it back getting a part time job. There are ways to make the money back if you really cant get over it. Did the $800 make you happy when you spent it and did it keep you entertained later? If yes then dont feel too down. Maybe there were better things to spend it on but that isnt the point. Learn from your mistakes and be wiser when spending money next time.

Ive gambled in the past, lost quite a bit too. Ive gotten over it and Im pretty sure you spent your money on something that kept you entertained longer.

Dont say maybe. Either do it or dont. You know it would only benefit you and others around you, the answer you are looking for is obvious. College cost a lot more than $800. If you want to make up for it your poor choice, start being serious. Give college your all and make your parents proud. You're young and making mistakes and regretting your decisions is normal for teenagers. Just try to learn from your mistakes.

Save moola, buy a whip - meet girlies - come back and post your findings. :) Seriously though limit yourself to what your doing, if spending money for online gaming entertained you, spend a fixed amount for that - and spend or save the money for other personal items (beneficial items).

This seems like a good idea, I tried doing it a while ago but it's not easy. Will keep this in mind, thanks bro.

sounds like you buy things out of boredom and to pass time.

As you said doing little choirs take up free hobbies to pass time which will minimize the need and time to play video games, i personally have a xbox one and only 1 game as i do not have time to play any more due to a lot of work and sports activities i do.

do choirs, go the gym get fit get a good body etc and it's a lot cheaper than video games :) will build confidence as well haha it's all about looking good naked :)

    bit of topic but ye

Any time you aggregate all of your purchases for something, it's going to sound like a lot. If you spent $800 in a month, I might be worried for you, but $800 over 3 years is nothing horrible.

The only important question, now, is what would you have spent it on otherwise, and would you have been happier had you done so? If so, then keep that in mind next time you're tempted to buy something game-related. If not, don't sweat it.

You are right, but well since I am only turning 16 next month 800$ is a big money for someone who is in my age.

What's done is done. it's not like you made a terrible mistake, it's something you shouldn't stress over entirely. If you feel bad, help your parents out. You said your lazy, well, start cleaning and doing chores and i'm sure your parents will be pleased.

Calm down, I spent thousands of $ (even the money I got from birthdays and christmas etc.) on runescape and I do not even regret it to be fair. It was a good time and I had fun. It was my decision and I have to live with it.

Just see that as your hobby, hobby's can be really expensive and you usually won't get the money (and especially) time back after you've quitted (except you've gone pro and enter championships or regarding runescape; be e.g. a famous youtuber) those hobbies.

Get over it man, you're too young to be depressed over $800. It won't affect your future life too much.

Is it because you are feeling guilty?
Your parents gave you the money so you could spend it, and that's exactly what you did, if you told them you spend your allowance on videogames they'd probably be cool with it. Why wouldn't they?
