    Moving Out (UK) Need Advice

    Ok heres the situation:

    Have GCSES (lol)
    No work experience
    Can get around 5k cash

How much money will I spend on average a month- Asumming I'm just surviving, no luxuries etc. How long will the 5k last me alone?

Anyone know of what type of job I could get? How easy is it to get one in a supermarket and can I live off that wage?

Any input from people who have moved out would be awesome.

Where are you planning to live? That's likely your single largest expense.

    Moving Out (UK) Need Advice

Jobs are very simple to find.

I apply for 10+ in a week whenever I'm jobless and I always find one within those 7 days.

Some advice is to keep your job until you find a replacement, never remain jobless because holding one is the only thing that will keep the bills paid.

Is the 5k counting your plane ticket or not? If not you will probably have 3.5-4k to your name and that should last you with just a few meals a day probably a month. Hope you found this helpful.

Get on the council housing list and get a job tied down while you wait then by the time they give you a house you'll have a job.

Bare minimum plan for rent, food, hygiene that's it.

Not sure in the uk but in the us we have $1 stores they sell food mircro wave and frozens like chicken.

    Buy
-shower supplies cheap don't forget toilet paper and laundry soap. Cheapest of everything
-if you have a dollar store buy everything you can from there.
-get on Craigslist look for a cleanish working used mircro wave and skillet.
If you do these man you're basically set. Until you get a job do NOT be picky! You have nothing you save what you can!

Rent the cheapest places you can find but not so cheap that you will be killed in your sleep lol. Here in us that would be like 150-300 a month and they may offer perks like laundry or free water.

Bro them struggles are about to be real I had to do this for awhile at one point in my life. Use as little of everything and if you have dollar stores there you could easily got for 10 months. Keep in mind this is until you land a job so jump on that and snag any jb you can get that will be reliable or at least long enough to find a reliable job.

    Good luck man.

Depends on your council. Just call them up (I assume you're young?) and just say you've been asked to leave your parental home. You should (happens here at least) get somewhere pretty quickly - you just wont get to choose where.

Living expenses will vary greatly dependant upon location, e.g rent prices differ depending on where you are so it is hard for us to give you a more accurate picture of your outgoings.

    Rent
    Food
    Gas/electricity bills
    Internet
Council tax etc must all be considered.

I'd say £5,000 could probably last you 6-8 months depending on how frugal you are. In terms of jobs, something unskilled would be your immediate first option, bars/restaurants/fast food/supermarkets etc are pretty easy to get. Look online for larger supermarkets and I'd hand in CV's to bars/pubs and restaurants. Most of them however will be minimum wage, you would most likely be working 30-45 hours a week and you can definitely survive on that type of wage if you aren't living too extravagantly.

Alternatively you could look for jobs such as an apprenticeships, these will be much more difficult to find, although most don't require more than school level education in order to undertake.

All the best with whatever you decide to do man.

I probably wouldn't bother moving until you have secured a job, dont want to take the risk of moving out and then running out of cash without having a job

I'm 19 and I live alone in the UK. Look up benefits and find what you're entitled to since you're jobless.

Job-seeker's allowance is enough to live on, provided you're 18 and unemployed you can apply for it. With this, you can also apply for housing benefit which will help pay your bills.

I'd advise getting your name on the council house register, rent is far cheaper there than in private rental.

Just gotta be careful with your budgeting. £50 is enough to last a week on inc. bills if you plan it out.

I'd suggest looking for a job before you move out though, living on benefits isn't exactly comfortable.
As for jobs, the easiest to find seems to be call centers. Not the greatest but it's a start, also means you can put down experience on your CV. If you have english and maths GCSE's or equivalent you could apply for supermarkets and such, Other than that I'd suggest finding a NEET education & training course. These are usually a few days a week, you can gain a few extra qualifications from doing barely anything, and most offer work experience at the end. I'm sure you'll find one in your area; there's plenty where I am.

Good luck and all the best.

the lower your rent costs, the more money you will have for other expenses such as water, heat, food, basic living stuff, transportation, etc. maybe go sit down with a financial planner. if you have a bank then sometimes they can help you out with finding one.

As for your question can you live on a wage from a supermarket, ofcourse you can. The real question is can you get enough hours from that supermarket to live on.
