[serious] gaining weight and motivation to workout

Ok, i am looking to gain 12-15lbs in a month. I am a 21yr old male, 5ft-9in and 110lbs. note: i am in the >1% weight range for my height and i have little-no body fat and never have. (1-2% bodyfat entire life)

I was thinking about buying a protein shake powder mix, cliff bars, hella cheese, and anything that looks good. What should i look for when buying food/supplements/vitamins? I was thinking hella calories and protein. What else should i be eating/taking in order to gain weight as fast as possible.

Second note, how do you all find motivation to work out? i really want to gain weight asap. What should i be focusing my energy on? def not cardio, was thinking pushups, situps and lifting free weights. ALSO, i live in ohio and its already snowing so running/working outside is not an option. and fuck gym memberships, maybe if i meet my goal lol.

TLDR: what should i take in order to gain as much weight as fast as possible. What workouts would maximize my time to gain weight? What about supplements/vitamins? I drink HELLA water and i heard creatine adds water weight, maybe? thanks

First of all,you need to be eating in a calorie surplus, there are loads of places online that you can find out what you need to be eating every single day to maintain current body weight (maintenance calories).
I would suggest eating said maintenance calories+500 more, all split into proteins/carbs/fats. also online calculators to find out how to split between these 3 things.

Drinking alot of water,i've found when trying to bulk drinking a 2L milk everyday helps , can be flavoured. if you're not worried about putting on some fat.

The body produces creatine naturally, but adding creatine to your diet, only retains water weight, and you will loose most of it again once you stop taking it.

This + a personalised workout program is your best bet, sign up and take a personal training session to start out.

Any questions feel free to pm me mate, goodluck!

If you're looking to gain 12-15 lbs in a month you're going to end up with most of that being fat. You seem to be looking for some miracle where you get swole overnight. That is not a reality.

In terms of a workout for beginners, a full body split is ideal but a PPL or Upper/Lower split would be fine too. Browse BB.com for a few demo routines.

No, it doesn't. Creatine only occurs naturally in the bodies of Vertebrate. With that being said it's only very small amounts, the creatine that is available for purchase is manufactured in a lab. Our bodies do however naturally produce the bi-product of creatine which is ATP.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having 1-2% body fat. I don't think it's possible, and if it is, it definitely is not healthy. As Jack Goff said, if you plan on gaining that much weight that quickly, it will most likely be mainly fat. It takes years of hard work and dedication to get to a physique that stands out from your average weightlifter.

If you are just starting off, I wouldn't even worry about supplements tbh. If anything, you could get some protein powder and some fish oil. If you are lacking motivation before a workout, you could drink some coffee or buy a pre-workout. The bulk of your nutrients that you need for optimal muscle gain should be coming from food rather than supplements. Try to eat at least 1g of protein per lb. of your body weight a day. Try to drink around a gallon of water a day.

As far as motivation and workout routines, for me it just became a habit over time. There's nothing like going to the gym and spending an hour or so focusing on lifts and not worrying about other things in your life. Try to force yourself to workout even if you don't feel like it, and over time it will become a habit that you enjoy.

Hey man, I was a skinny guy like you and within two years I gained straight 30+ lbs of lean mass. It is possible, if you want to get fat and chubby I'd suggest gaining 12 in a month, but for me it was always about aesthetics (zyzz). I'd suggest calculating your BMR here: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ and then adding 500 to that number. Eat about a gram of protein per body weight, which means when you actually start gaining weight don't forget to up the protein intake too, I see so many newcomers forget that important aspect. Next up, get on a nice mass building routine such as SL 5x5 where through compound exercises your body will explode in size. Make sure you perfect form before adding weight, never the opposite. If you start gaining more than a pound a week, cut your calories by 100-200. You don't want to get big with the consequence of potentially most of it being fat. Good luck!

You should see a doctor first before chugging a bunch of protein, at 110 lbs you could have some other underlying health issue that will make it difficult/impossible to gain weight.

This. I'm 135 pounds and I'm 5'8" and I'm stuck at my weight due to stomach problems I can pretty much eat protein rich meats, a small number of fruits (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries) the rest I can't. I can eat carbohydrates in the form of pasta or bread only before 9pm or my stomach will keep me awake all night. Also no daily at all except occasionally lactose free milk.

    1) You are not 1-2% bodyfat or you would be dead, you are more likely to be 8-10%.
    2) You are not going to gain 12-15lbs in a month unless you take steroids.
    3) If you are dedicated to gaining weight fast, take creatine and lift heavy weights, make sure you include legs/back as these are your biggest and strongest muscles and easiest to gain weight on.
    4) Eat protein like crazy, protein shakes, steak, 7-egg omelettes, salmon, tuna, whole-grain bread.. Whatever you can! Try to get atleast 200grams a day.

You can not just put cardio aside. It is a vital part of a workout regimen. Also do not eat TOO much protein as this can work against you. Honestly, being 5'9 and that skinny, you should take up boxing. Your reach would dominate!

Id suggest a mass gainer called "Serious mass" it is expensive but it does the trick for sure it will pack on weight and that I can guarantee. Each serving has 1500 calories so that + your meals everyday.

I'm 6'2" and weigh 115 lbs, I know exactly where you're coming from. I recently hit the gym looking for a personal trainer to help me out with a very similar situation. From what he told me, it's pretty much a balance between eating A LOT and working out at the same time. If you only eat, you're not gonna gain muscle, just fat. It's honestly a case by case basis so while you might think "fuck that" for gym memberships, try it out or ask around.

115 at 6'2....? That's unhealthy as hell dude. My friend was 5'11 and weighed 125 and he was pretty emaciated.

I've tried gaining weight on several occasions, I just can't do it. I eat large meals about 4 times a day, gonna try and kick it up a notch and start eating more. Also like I said, started hitting the gym and I'm taking tons of protein shakes so hoping to gain some weight.

As per the unhealthy part, I haven't had any real serious health problems.
