How to quit Gaming 4 good?

hello every, for the past 7 or 8 years ive been swinging between Runescape and Xbox360. and every time i stop playing for a while i get drawn back into the game. While i play runescape i constantly am buying gold anywhere between 25$-600$ of gold at a time! And this needs to stop. This year is my senior year of highschool and so far ive spent it playing a god damn video game all weekend. But the addiction is unreal, if anyone has any advice at all on how i can stop playing runescape or even stop spending money on the game please comment and help me.

I know how you feel, I've played Runescape for 9+ years and am in my Senior year of Highschool as well. It's not that you necessarily have to quit video games, but portion out your time. It's always good to message a few people, but also keep a small group of friends to always talk to.

If you feel the need to quit Runescape then just don't buy gold and give your stuff to your friend/noob, change your pass to something random. Find a sport or something else.

... pretty easy to unblock a site right away. find a girlfriend, do something to else instead of gaming. spending that kind of money is serious

I was in your position once before. You don't have to quit, I think every gamer once they come to the terms that "damn, I play way to much, time to quit!" Think that they have to quit full stop.

Take it one step at a time. Like a habit or an addiction, slowing stop playing so much, find new activities to do, get out more, or find things that will keep you busy. E.G - find a new job/get a job.

Me personally. I got more hours at work, so now I forcefully can't game as much. And it feels good!

But seriously, you just need to realize there isn't a future in spending money/countless hours on a game such as runescape. and there is much more things you can do with your time, to lead a much more forfulling life

 

You could have a friend or a family member block gaming sites on your personal computer with a code so that you wouldn't be able to unlock them if you have an unstoppable urge. I definitely recommend selling your consoles/games if you really desire to escape the gaming. That way, you literally cannot relapse.

Gaming is a terrible addiction, I understand entirely. Good luck man.

 

Find a new hobby. I used to be addicted, decided to hit the gym several times a week and socialize more with friends that I have sort of neglected for a while due to playing RS/Being on the computer way too much. It's really nice to not be addicted anymore. I play every now and then but now I do it for fun and not because I'm addicted.


Sooner or later you will realize that there are other things to do than playing games. Don't get me wrong, it's totally fine to play games but you should find a healthy balance.

 

It's only a problem because you let it be, don't just block the website try and master the problem by limiting your time

 

You should try working out and fitness as a whole, it's a great way to get off RS and the computer in general. Read around on some fitness forums and see if you can get into it, it's a great way to improve your life as a whole.

 

Take your damn computer away, give it to a friend or a family member in a place you can't touch.

And if you need to use a computer for school work, they will have plenty in there that you can use.

 

but i dont think that he would have to he has to teach himself to have some control because the next time he has access to a computer or xbox he will just be stuck in the same situation. its a proper addiction imo.

 

Honestly find a hobby other than gaming for me it was fitness and I can really tell you from spending my days playing video games it has changed to me running/lifting and it has had positive effects on my life. Maybe try photography or something like that. You never know what you could like if you never try as I would have never thought in a million years fitness would become my thing but hey it keeps me busy and I enjoy it.

 

Find something that you enjoy, a sport, hobby, etc... find a girlfriend and go outside, you will feel so much better than just sitting behind your laptop and grinding for xp, I remember when I bought billions of gp and I was addicted to that because I always wanted to get richer but then my main account got banned for botting with all that gold and since then I only play for fun. I started lifting in april 2013 and that keeps me busy and you will be much more happier when you see results from fitness instead of getting 99's on runescape.

 

Getting rid of his machines won't solve much if he doesn't have anything else to spend time on. Sell your account, give it away, get rid of it.

Now that the spending is gone, you'll need to find a hobby. There is nothing wrong with gaming, just don't let your life revolve around it. Hit the gym, socialize, group activities. Get out more.

Make plans so you have something to do on the weekends, instead of sitting at home thinking "well, I got nothing else to do, may as well sit here all weekend playing".

You don't quit. Only thing that you could do is put it in moderation.

 

You can quit step by step, what you need is another center of attention such as friends, girlfriend or even family with whom spend time rather than spending time gaming.
