what if I dont like what Im studying?

    Hey everyone.

I'm at university right now and am in 2nd year. I've switched programs 3 times already and decided to stick with this one, but now I'm starting to worry that it's not for me. I really can't switch again...Too much time and money has gone into my university career.

I think I just have to stick it out, but I was wondering if anyone else feels the same way about what they're studying? I get extreme anxiety about school now and am stressed all the time. The work is difficult and there's sometimes a fair bit of it.

You don't have to do University you know. It's optional in life, just because you hear all the success stories of people studying X at Uni doesn't mean you'll fail without it.

Do what you want to do, not what everyone else is doing.

You don't wanna get a degree and do something you're going to hate doing for the rest of your life.

Talk with your advisors and close family/friends on a decision.

This. I know you're afraid to switch again due to the financial and temporal consequences, but you'll hate yourself and your job if you just settle for your current field/major because it's the easy choice.

Personally, I have had similar issues in the past. I started doubting my future in my major, but was afraid to look into a change for fear that my parents would be upset and my time spent (at that point, about 2.5 years) would have been wasted. I eventually decided to have a talk with my counselor and parents about my change of heart. It was definitely a challenge, both financially and academically, to make the decision to switch majors, but I can honestly say I made the correct choice.

Put the stress on yourself now with school and get it over with rather than having stress on yourself the rest of your life where you hate your job.

Ur job is for life and ur current situation is temporary. Make the right choice now and that's what ur heart is telling u to do. A lot of the users above have spoken and its really much better to switch than to do a job u hate for the rest of your life

Have a good long think about what you really want. If you dont like it switch and study something else.. You dont want to end up in your 30s having to study again do you? Because you finally realise you hate what your doing.

Hi, i was in the same situation as you, basically i studied something for 3 years which i didnt like, but without it i wouldnt be where i am today. Id say just stick to this program as you can use it later on in life to get a job in a different field, a lot of people dont end up working with what they studied for.
