    Steam Lets Scammers Run Free

Long story short, i got scammed by CoinKing for $5000 of my csgo items because i was really very desperate for cash for my dental bill ( much higher than previously quoted by the dentist :( ) and just took the deal. He ran and im now left totally broke so yeah, shit. Reported to Steam because i thought they would be okay with refunding if i provided solid evidence. Their policy states that they wont refund if i got scammed by an imposter even though i used everything to make sure that it was the real CoinKing. So yeah, no empathy from scumbag Gaben and Steam is the typical only-money-talks bullshit corporation.

So yeah, nice. Desperate and heartbroken guy hoping that Steam, the company he believed for 6 years now to care about their customers, learns the hard truth about them because Gaben is a fucked up Market-Fees-And-Games-Sold-Money Corporation. I renamed Steam Ltd to Fuck Ltd on my desktop.

Got screenshots of my Steam Support emails, will show to trusted-sorta-looking people who ask, obviously not trusting anyone online anymore because of this bullshit. $5000 gone just like that. Bullshit. No prosecution. BIGGEST BULLSHIT.

Anyone know if the police will be able to help my case? Or anyone with authority? I dont want someone just taking my $5000 like that. BULLSHIT!

P.S. So yeah just me ranting out and venting frustration. BULLSHIT STEAM!

Not sure how far the other affected user's have went with this but you should get in contact with not only those that were scammed but also with all people that have had dealings with him. If he ever dealt outside of cryptocurrency you may be able to find his bank account, real name, etc. I remember there was a guy here awhile ago that said "my boss was willing to fly to your location and buy BTC in cash" and Coinking gave some information about where he was and why it was a bad idea, something about "the gypsies will steal your money". Research everything. Try to find out information on Coinking. Remove his online pseudonym and get a real name, a real person. Pursue him. $5k is just the tip of the iceberg, he made off with a ridiculous amount. I'm sure the other victims are willing to pursue this in a legal manner. I wouldn't let $5k go so easily either.

Also, cryptocurrency is occasionally not as cryptic as some may think. Although it's basically all CK dealt with, it doesn't mean that there aren't those that can outsmart him. It's easy to track BTC transactions -- they're all on the public ledger. Find someone that was scammed for BTC and follow the trail. If he forgets to obfuscate the trail you'll almost certainly be led to one of two places.
    1) a bank account or other personally identifiable cash-out method
    2) somewhere he spent this coin (you may be able to approach this corporation with all of your information -- made stronger if you collaborate and consolidate your case with the other victims -- and attempt to get his personal info that way)

    Best of luck.

Like the guy above said, don't just let him run away with the 5k$. Pursue him as with that way it would teach him not to scam again.

That sucks so much.. You should keep trying to contact stream through other gateways because the sad truth is people get scammed for tens of thousands online everyday and unfortunately its hard for the police to do anything unless you're in the same country as the scammer. Good luck getting your items back, hopefully he doesn't get away with it!

Thats why you read everything you sign. Go read steams ToS.
Its illegal to sell items for money unless using the steam market.

Also contacting the steam support will most likely get your account suspended/terminated. The police will laugh in your face, or even ask you why you are not declaring the $5000 as received and paying taxes on those, and probably will file charges at you for fiscal fraud.

    This OP another one.

Yes because you know Valve is a greedy kunt and they even deduct a few cents when you try to sell an item on steam market.

Well you can still keep on selling items for money and use it irl or expand your "online business" on black markets and it wouldn't bother Valve anyway.
