    Parent laid off

Sooo, my mother got laid off :/ And considering my family's current living expenses, that is a pretty huge problem. :(

My parent makes around $400k annually, and yea, that seems like a lot of money, but I'm living internationally in a place where living expenses are bloody crazy =.= Renting an apartment monthly takes around $60k per annual. And it's not even big - three rooms, two toilets, and that's about it. Throw in my school fees, and that's another $30k there. And my parent has to foot my grandmother's medical fees, whiiiiiiich, takes another $150k.

That leaves my family with $160k ish?

Right, and I'm going off to college next year, which, well, needs money. I'm international, which means my tuition fees and living expenses are probably going to be around $80k per year.

Soooo, $80k left. And if we throw in utilities and food, say, that leaves the family with $60k left.

Sorry for the huge pile of numbers, but I'm rather depressed right now. While $60k is a huge amount, but eh, my current place of living is bloody expensive, and the prices always rise each year.

    *sighs*

Considering I know various people here at home that work and live off 40k a year I think you're coming from a very privledged family. I'm sure your mother will find other work and if need be there are plenty of options to save money for your family.

Be thankful for what you have instead of being sorry for what you've lost.

You joined Sythe just to bitch about a parent getting laid off?

    EDIT: Drento is right.

Presumably your mother was a skilled worker, something which she could just get another job right? I don't know many surgeons on benefits, put it that way.

Hey buddy, I'm sure it seems bad right now but honestly - you'll more than manage. Even if that means moving to somewhere less expensive or your mum finding a new job - I'm sure it'll all work out. Perhaps you could get a part time job to pay for groceries or gas or something to spread the cost of living.

If you find living expenses hard to cope with, try and cut down on things that are less important. Also, you could get a part time job to help support your family if the situation is bad. I wish you the best and hope you solve your problems :)

Hi, thanks for the advice y'all. Eh, I know that my family is relatively rich, which makes the adjustment harder for me, but *shrugs* life's a bitch. I will probably take on a job to help out - also a good experience I guess.

@theamberleaf, I had a Sythe account before, but then some idiot reported me for scamming (which I didn't-.-) and I got banned. I appealed, but I gave up on it after a while. Hence this newb account. ;p

    I know those feels.

My husband and I live on a current income of around 25k a year as the combination of our incomes. I would kill to have anything close to the amounts listed above.

You will adjust and learn to make sacrifices in things that are not essential.

    Edit: Cya!

Like seriously? If your mother was really clever you wouldn't be still living in the same place and paying big amounts for the apartment your at how about explaining to your mother that you should move to a different place where it cost a lot more smaller pay month, that will surely help you then and you wouldn't have to worry about anything to be honest because that's just stupid if you're paying that much a month when you can save a lot more if you just move to a cheaper place...

EDIT: Plus where do you even live? For it to cost you all of that amount of money.

Considering you said she was making 400k a year, if she has the education and skills to get that job finding another just as good shouldn't be a problem for her. Having 60k a year left over to spend on anything you please after paying all of your living expenses is more then enough, to complain about something like that makes you sound kind of ungrateful.

If she is really making that much money, she can easily move to a different place where you guys can save money. Try talking to her about moving and getting a job elsewhere, it shouldn't be that hard for her. You're actually very fortunate and shouldn't be taking your money for granted..

Honestly i think this thread doesn't even make sense.
You must be living in a castle or something to be paying all that annually. I would recommend you to cut in things you don't really need and talk with your mother to move to other place and different job.

You'll be fine, things will settle themselves. Your leftover is quadruple some peoples full amount in a year and they make it through.

IF she can make that much, you can mvoe somewhere else. I know it seems hard to leave your home and memories but life is to survive and in this case, I think the best option is to move bro
