Understand I'm failing at life but I don't know how to get out of it

Basically, I'm a 20 year old philosophy student at a very reputable uni. I'm still a first year and it's week 7 currently. I've done so little work it's laughable. I hardly attend lectures anymore, let alone the seminars. I can feel myself starting to take a turn for the worse. I'm currently stopping smoking, I'm taking a break from alcohol and I started going to the gym a few days ago. I'm starting to count calories as well. But I still can't get around to doing my work. I simply can't force myself to study, and I don't know how I can make a turnaround. I'm don't want to fuck this up. I've failed at reaching so many opportunities but I somehow managed to end up here. It's pretty much all I've got left. My ex literally broke up with me because we didn't talk for a month as I was studying for uni. That ended a 2 year relationship for this, with a gorgeous girl from a wealthy family and awesome parents, and now I'm ruining it. I honestly pray I can get better. I've been thinking of going back to church/the Christian society even though I'm agnostic as life seemed to be so much better when I believed there was someone up there.

Dude doing well at uni isn't everything! Maybe uni isn't actually for you, have a chat with your parents and consider dropping out and finding full time work or an appreticeship? Make sure your parents know how you are doing etc regardless if you're failing of not. I assume they are helping to fund your studies? It'd be wrong carrying on and wasting their hard earned money.

Possibly find some new friends for a while? People that are dedicated to their work, if you're in halls still at the moment maybe things will change second year when you get a house, get a house with people who are into their work and wanna get shit done. But remember don't think you're lifes getting fucked up because you're possibly losing interest in uni and can't seem to attend lectures.

I dropped out of 6th form after the first year achieving 1 A, 1 B and 2 D's which isn't great... It's not about what you know, it's about who you know. Be polite and network with people, and show an interest and possibly just find a job!

I'm 18 years old I've got a Ford Fiesta ST 2.0l I'm looking to move out this time next year, I earn just shy of £21,000 and I'm currently studying part time at University (another potential solution for you) company is funding my studies and my commute weekly. 2 x 12wk semesters a year. I invest in the stock market and can make a little bit of money on the side as well, which usually gets lost playing poker.

In a nut shell dude, chill! Don't worry too much, if worst comes to worst just leave, save yourself the money loss and try and find something that suits you, something more your cuppa tea, that you enjoy doing and you don't even need motivation for.

Chin up boss, have a chat with your parents, and explain, get it off your chest. Good luck boss.

I'll assume that you aren't enjoying what you're studying? I think Philosophy is the type of study people take up if they're extremely passionate about it as the job prospects aren't too high.

Maybe take a break from university and spend some time thinking about what you want to do with your life whilst working full time. I'm 19 and through my first two years of university I didn't really know if I was studying what I wanted to eventually get a career in. It sort of demotivated me.

    1. Try to reconcile with your ex if your not to late. Beautiful, wealthy girls dont cross your path often.
    2. Education is important. Try going for seminars, talks or listening to advice from other people to motivate you, maybe motivational music too.
    3. Go to church often. You dont realise it but religious activities helps a lot.
    4. Dont force yourself to study; you must have the will. What drove you to become like you are now? Reverse that passion/drive to set you in the right track.
    5. Grow a ******* pair of balls and live your life fully. Dont waste yourself

I can relate to this a lot.

I've just started Uni (respected Uni, studying a respectable course too, French), and I miss a lot of lectures because I can't be bothered or don't find them beneficial and also skip seminars if I just don't feel like it.

Its hard to find the motivation, especially if the lecture or seminar is dull or on a shit subject, but my motivation is I'm paying £9k a year in fees. I know this and this becomes my personal debt. Even though I may not attend all my lectures etc... I put 110% into my work when it does actually come round and have scored above 80% in all 3 of my assignments so far.

However, University isn't for all of us.

I really suggest watching this video through and reflecting of what you are doing.
