What does a sex dream mean?

Kinda weird question, I know, but this girl I've crushed on for the past year (also my best friend) has told me on multiple occasions, even when she's been in a relationship, that she's had a sex dream about me. The last one being 2 days ago.

I've found that some people say it's simply because we're so close (we are REALLY close, and share almost everything) that the brain just connects the two in some way

But then other people have said that it's because she wants to have sex with me, (Which, doesn't make much sense to me because we've hooked up and even came close, but she stopped it)

What are your opinions?

 

It's when a person is SEXUALLY attracted to a person and fantasies about having sex with them. It doesn't always necessarily mean they fancy them though.

 

She wouldn't have those dreams if she weren't attracted to you.

I don't think it would mean something. Maybe she is very attracted to you, or it's a hint to start having sex with her!

 

So, general consensus is that she's sexually attracted to me. So then she honestly just doesn't want to ruin the friendship, it's not just her friendzoning me.

 

If it doesn't work out, your friendship is fucked. She is trying to avoid that.

Yeah, I'd say it's just a sexual attraction but it's up to you both to decide whether the relationship is worth risking the friendship over.

 

Sex dreams don't mean anything in particular. I have a friend who's had dreams of having sex with his sister. Does that mean he is sexually attracted to her? No, it's just his brain by chance juxtaposing the image of my friend's sister in the same scene as a sexual act.

I've researched once before on this subject and found mixed replies. Romantics will say that it's a latent desire of you wanting to be with the person, while other groups will give a different observation. Personally I wouldn't think much of it, but you never know.

Once your brain had fantasies of such magnitude your brain releases large amounts of REM which In turn cause vivid even wet dreams could be just a fantasy Pfc hers or mearly she wants you but does not want to interfere with your current friendship.

she might just be weirdly testing the waters and the dream never happened. i dont believe dreams mean anything except that you were thinking about that person. but the dream is probably not real, she wanted to see your reaction.

relationships dont have to end friendships, its just people who end relationships badly that ruin friendships. i'm still friends with all of my ex's because we came to a mutual agreement to break it off rather than "fuck you you're dumped you dumb bitch" like most people seem to do.

just dont get in to a relationship if you have doubts about breaking up in the first place, if you like her then go for it - 500% interested in you.

I think the fact that she told you specifically about the dream (or "dream") is really significant. It may or may not have actually happened, but she was definitely fishing for a reaction.

From my perspective, it does seem like she wants you to take it further, and it seems like a good idea to attempt to head in that direction as long as you're comfortable with it.

Normally, I'd completely agree with you. But I have made advances on her, and she knows how I want to take it to the next level, but she doesn't want to, which is why her telling me this confuses me. She thinks anything between us would ruin our friendship, but she's literally my best friend. Nothing would change that.
