    Quitting Smoking?

Okay, so I'm going to try and quit smoking, I've only been smoking for about a year and a half, but I want to quit so I can start working out again and whatnot, and just feel better and not all gross on the inside, the farthest I've made it was about a week in the past when I tried to quit, I'm not sure what helps while quitting, If anyone here has successfully quit smoking what did you do? Or any help would be much appreciated...

I don't smoke so I really can't put myself in the mind frame of a smoker. I know when my mum quit smoking she kept her distance from other smokers. The smell and seeing others will make you want to give in, which really is the last thing you want to do. Slowly decrease the amount you smoke a day, giving up 100% at once is more likely to fail. Perhaps even invest in one of those electronic cigarettes? I heard they can be quite pricey, but when it comes to your health there shouldn't be a limit. Get some nicorette gum or even patches.

Most importantly, tell your friends that you want to quit so they can help and encourage you not to smoke when out drinking etc. If you do slip up don't think it's all over from there, try try again!

Asides from that Divica has said, there is that whole concept of writing down your goals which makes them a "reality of sorts". Apparently it is proven to help you stick to them, I'm not too sure but it's worth a go.

Write it down and keep it in a public place, perhaps on the fridge so you see it frequently.

Try electric cigarettes, "vaping" - I know plenty of people who have transitioned on to these for a while, then quit completely. Also, as mentioned above it will help SO much if you don't hang around other smokers.

    Good luck!

Find something else that relaxes you and or holds your interest if you have a motive for quitting smoking it will become a lot easier. The chemical addiction isn't that lengthy to begin with once you've stopped.

These, my mums friend was on them and apparently you can get coffee flavor, apple flavor, etc.. and apparently they're so much nicer than actually smoking. Good luck, giving up smoking is so much better for you in the long run, you'll see positive effects almost straight away. :)

This. I have a friend who smoked and chewed, so he got an electronic vape cigarette. He loves the thing. He has been tobacco free for over half a year now, all because of this electronic cigarette. It's completely harmless, because all it uses is water vapor with flavor.

He says it's MORE satisfying than a real cigarette, because it tastes nearly the same, you can do it whenever, wherever, for however long you want, you don't have to leave the house for periods of time to do it, it doesn't pale in comparison, and you feel better health-wise, so it is more satisfying.

I'd say your best bet is to get an electronic cigarette. I don't think anything else will help more.

I've been a smoker for some years now, I'm still a smoker however I've took periods where I quit. In the end I've invested in electronic cigarettes as stated above. They have different nicotine levels and so forth so you can start with a string level at first then gradually move down to no nicotine. Once you feel okay you can decide if you want to (Vape) with no nicotine content. They truly do work in my opinion.

    Quitting Smoking?

You can quit smoking only if you're strong physically. Never give up during it. My mother used to smoke for ~15years, she quitted for 1-2years then she smoked like once per week just to beer, on parties etc. It brought her back to addiction. Now she doesnt smoke even single a day, without nicorette shit, without any kind of pills. It's roughly half year now. That's the key to success, dont let yourself smoke even once
    Best of luck !

You "trick" your body and mind very easily with these. Start off on a strong one, move down to weaker/menthol/flavours.

    Quitting Smoking?

I'm not a smoker, but as others have said, I've seen family members go through the struggle of quitting.

My mum - she's attempted multiple times and the only times she has been successful is all three times that she's known to be pregnant with me and my brothers. She's currently trying right now but patches don't work for her and neither does nicotine gum. She actually went about 4 months without smoking last year up until she was strained with some emotional issues. Her smoking is mostly stress related.

My grandfather - he gained a lot of weight when he first quit. He simply just stopped smoking when he felt like it was time. He didn't use patches, stay away from smokers, or anything to assist him. He just stopped. It's the first time that he's tried to quit after 45 years of smoking and it worked.

You could try patches, nicotine gum, or find any supplement that works for you in particular. It's different for everyone; some can quit without help, some can't without help, some simply cannot quit.

Like I said, I'm not a smoker so I have absolutely no idea how it feels to try and quit.

    Good luck though!

You need to do some type of therapy for it. Those patches are bs.

My mother's boyfriend went to therapy for it and he doesn't smoke anymore and it's been 2-3 years now.

    Quitting Smoking?

All my friends and family smoke and its disgusting, my dad quit for 10 years and started again hes been clean for about 4 now. My fucking friends will tell me they have no money and will go buy a pack of cigarettes. I usually crush them and piss them off. Most horrible addiction, the first turnoff for me was the price per pack.

Ya, my dad smoked too, but I'm glad he is out of it now. I have many friends who smoke and I will tell you its the most disgusting thing ever. Girls who smoke are a turn off on me as well.

Get some nicotine patches from your local chemist, that is the addictive substance in the cigarettes, so they should help a lot!

    Quitting Smoking?

It is a lot easier than it looks.
Quiting cigarettes is the easiest thing on earth. You just need to be able to tell ''no'' to yourself.

I wouldn't suggest the use of electronic cigarettes, nicotine patches and or other bullshit products that you don't need in order to quit.

If you have friends and/or colleagues who are smoking, it is better to avoid them for the first days of quitting.

The best tip i can give you is = Keep your mouth busy. Chew something, eat something and don't get too stressed.

Hope i could help you quitting and i hope you live a longer and healtier life.
