How to not let things get to me?

Well long story short,

Some dude at work gave my a hard time by complaining. Basically, he asked me for help and he made it seem like the favor was going to be relatively easy - I looked and saw that it wasn't going to be that easy.

So I told him to get started on it and I will take care of the rest, and he gave me a solid look then gave me an attitude and said "Whatever man I'll do it myself." then walked away.

So I helped someone else out that was paying me for it, and he noticed and got all bent out of shape and I told him "Money talks" then he said he was going to point out my actions at the next meeting.

Whatever I'm just trying to forget about it, but what can I do to make myself mentally stronger for these kinds of situations?

 

Just remind yourself he's an idiot.

At the meeting he'll say you didn't help, but you can just say "I told him to get started and I'll help later, I was helping someone else because I forgot"
Although you dogged yourself in with the "money talks" comment, you should be nice and calm in those situation so you don't say anything silly.

 

You told him you where going to help him, it sounds like hes taking advantage of you. If he is an immature child and does dob you in just state that you where busy at the time and you told him you would help him once you where done.

Other than that, just take Shoop's advice and tell your self hes an Immature Idiot..

 

You simply (relative word) need to take a different philosophical approach. If he asked you for help and is not your boss you don't need to help him out I'm assuming, so thus him getting upset that you didn't help him and helped someone else is not your problem. The money talks comment will screw you, but if you didn't say the snide comment I would have just said that someone else asked first so I helped them first.

 

Isn't he supposed to do the work he's payed for???
