    I can't move my neck

Just woke up this morning and my neck got stuck. It happened a while after I woke up. I can't look to the right and have to stretch out my neck to the left to avoid the pain. What should I do?

i assume you are young so we can rule out faulty joints and arthritis, I would say you have a crick in your kneck (Muscle spasm) due to sleeping in an awkward position...When you feel your kneck does it feel tense/stiff? Try something like tigerbalm or icyhot, Or if you have a relative that would throw you a muscle relaxer that would be your best bet, if your a smoker mj will loosen that kneck up for you in no time

Yeh if you've never had neck problems before then it's probably just because you've slept funny, it should last a 1-7 days depending on how bad it is.
I have a lot of problems with my neck so I know how you feel, you just have to put up with it until it goes.

If you have insurance consider seeing a chiro if the pain doesn't leave. This normally happens from sleeping oddly but its possible that you just need a quick readjustment. I went to my mom's chiro a few times back in the day and it felt great!

Yeah, never had neck problems before :S

It's the day after it and I can turn my neck more but it still hurts slightly.

Like I said about 1-7 days and you'll be as good as new again, just don't try and push your neck too far. :)

I actually had the exact same thing happen to me a few months ago. It hurt so bad I couldn't even get a shirt on, had to skip school and what not as well. The pain was completely gone for me in about a week and a half. Although it doesn't sound like it's as bad as I had it so the pain will probably subside within the next 3-4 days. Hope it feels better soon!

You pulled a muscle in your neck.
I suggest heating it now, icing it at night. Also, if you have some deep heating or whatever that rub is, use that too.

I've been heating it and putting an ice pack on it as well as trying some medication and various sprays + creams. It hurts like hell and yes daily things like putting on a shirt is a challenge for me.

My guess is that you've got some sort of muscle problem, perhaps a muscle spasm. Don't worry, it's a common thing. Got any heat rub? Try that.

If you're genuinely concerned try checking out HealthBoards. It's a very popular forum and you're more likely to get the help you need there.

Itll go away with time, I think you just slept weird. Try moving your neck a little in every direction every couple of hours or so to get it back in place.
