Don't Know How To Carry On With Life.. (Rant)

Alright, let me start this out everyone.

Background Information:
-Senior in High School
-18 Years Old

Situation:

Next year all of my friends are going to universities or our local city college (which is amazing).

I'm BARELY getting by in high school. I STILL haven't completed my COMMUNITY SERVICE (60 Hours required by April 25th!). I'm BARELY doing them and I'm about half way there or a little bit above.

Anyways, I'm going to Mexico for the summer and I told my friend to go with me, he was going to go but then my other friend told him not to go because they are butt buddies (lol). Okay, I don't care anymore, let's move on. They're going to the city college but I haven't made my choice with what to do with my life.

I fucked up, I didn't fill out any of the forms to get enrolled in the city college next year, didn't fill out financial aid forms, do the placement test, etc.
Why? The school didn't announce this shit and it pissed me off.

My dad pretty much forced me to get a job last year when I as 17. I was getting home schooled for the semester and he thought I'd be home schooled forever...? (lol..) Yeah my job is easy BUT I can't save money for shit. This is what I spend my money on (remember I don't make shit):

-Food during lunch (my friends and I always go off campus for lunch, driving)
-Fucking Runescape gold which now that I look back at it, wow...
-Miscellaneous products (Axe hair gel, Neutrogena face cleanser, etc.)
-Phone bill

To top it off, I don't have a girlfriend, I know I could get one, but at what cost?
I barely have time for school work. I work 4 days a week, I'm doing community service when I don't work afterschool, homework as well.

I want to get out of this town, while it's so beautiful I hate it here. It's too expensive, I want to start a new life elsewhere (new country).

I wish life was easier guys, I wish I was a professional soccer player so I could do what I LOVE while getting paid. I wish I could just move to Jamaica and smoke weed (lol I don't even smoke anymore but it's always one of my fantasies). I WANT TO QUIT RUNESCAPE AND DEDICATE MY LIFE TO SOCCER BUT IT'S SO HARD NOW, NOW WITH COLLEGE AROUND THE CORNER.. I'm so over high school. I want to move out but I can't. Fuck I wish money wasn't so important..

I have no idea what to do next... Please help me.

 

The first thing i suggest is taking life more seriously. No matter how much you hope and wish, nothing will happen just like that. You have to work for everything you want in the real world and no one hands out anything. From what i read it seems as if you have a problem growing up and coming to terms of independence.

You not going to a college is your fault and when looking to get accepted the field is fierce in that area. You have to go out of your way to make it and sell yourself. Why should they pick you over anyone else? What do you have to bring to the table?

Also i think you should manage your money smarter, buckle down for a couple months and make a financial plan and always have a rainy day fund.
Its good that you have a job and thats a good start. Just keep at that while you try to plan your life and juggle school. I know its going to be hard but thats how it is in most cases.

Try not to worry about a girlfriend at this point. When youre trying to get your life together. How can you worry about someone elses life when yours isnt straight? Its just extra stress you dont need at the moment IMO.

What plans or goals do you have? What are your interests? What do you enjoy doing? Think, what would you do even if you weren't going to get paid for it? What makes you happy? (think hard about these and edit the OP when you come to a conclusion, or respond to my post. Id like to help you figure it all out and am in no way trying to degrade or belittle you, just giving my opinion.

 

All I can say is knuckle down man.. Stop playing your games and shit and stop what's not important.
You need to want to improve yourself, hell I'm in uni now and of course I like fucking about and playing games but when it comes to it and I have to work all the fun games and nonsense go out the window and I then try my hardest. You need to do the same.

 

Everyone has money problems. To be honest, you should just log in a week what you spend on. Keep EVERY receipt and at the end of the week add +$50. That is probably what you normally spend on average per week. Learn to budget properly and be willing to sacrifice certain things.

Money should always been saved for a rainy day. So basically save like 5-10% of every paycheque. After you are done, my advice is to quit school and work for a couple of years. You have no idea but when you drop out of school for 1-2 years and you go back. You have this clarity that you would of never had if you just stayed in school. Working and being out in the real world is the greatest experience/clarity you can get.

 

Stop fucking up. Not to be blunt. It's what you need. Just stop, i've been in that exact position. Just stop.

And as for on topic. I would be kind enough to let you know that the military is still an open option. It could help with your "taking life more serious" thing. As well as make it easier to enroll in a college.

As for the military. I joined the Marines, straightened me out a bit... but the old you comes back through a little bit once things tense down, and you start working at your MOS.

And if you thought I was rude, I wasn't. Blunt doesn't equal rude.

 

Yeah my sister is in the military, she said it was the best and worst decision of her life. She'll be out this year after her 8 year contract is over.

My parents were really mad at me because my school sent them a letter about cutting too much school.

My dad said if I graduate he'd buy me the plane ticket or a computer (which I want). Incentive to try harder.

 

buckle down and relize these next few years of your life... are going to shape the 30 years after that.. if you fuck up now you're going to be nothing down the road

 

Damn, you're right. It's like a movie scene where the main character goes to prison or whatever and you just see one of his options in the future disappear. :s

 

Id like to say thats bullshit, I had a shit education, constantly suspended and Expelled. Now im on £9 an hour, at the tender age of 19, and the money is constantly rising.
So no if you "Fuck up now" it doesnt make you nothing, you can make yourself whatever you want, all you have to do is try.

You just have to focus on what you really want, Theres always a way round things, just depends on how you act on it

 

Can you tell me a little more about that?

Let's just say I'm going to pass high school with decent grades and a lot of cuts and I didn't apply for any Universities. Can you tell me if this is similar to what happened to you?

 

I personally got very good grades in school and went on to college an then university, I'm currently in debt a good £17k to the uni which will be rising.


A few of my "badass" friends got terrible grades and a few left school early. Some of them work in McDonalds and other shit places but that is because they lazy fucks, when you speak to them you can tell they are lazy. However a few of them have really good jobs because they actually tried, try got their English and math up to standard by doing a course after school and they applied for apprenticeships and companies, a few them got taken on and I currently have a friend making £600 a week, he probably didn't even know what a comma was when he left school..
It all depends on wether you are lazy or you will actually try.

 

Well while almost every single one of my friends stayed on at school, as they wanted to go uni, I left school at 16, got myself an apprenticeship as a plumber.
3 years down the line im now level 3 certified Plumbing & Heating engineer.
Also on the brink of progressing into becoming gas safe so that will bump up my wages to even more, possibly £13 an hour, not even in my twenties.
Yet all my school friends are all in £10k + Debt from uni, and will come out of uni with a degree, but will they be able to get a job to suit them? Who knows..
Where as they are still very reliant on their parents, i have moved out, Saving up money. Seen as im on about £400 a week roughly, including over time + Odd jobs i do on the side.
My girlfriend done brilliant at school, has so many qualifications, but struggles to even find a job.

Life is what you make it, If you want money, you know where to find it and will do anything to make things successful.
