    Sleep pattern?

I'm 15 and I'm currently in High School.
I sleep about 5-6 hours a day and feel perfectly fine, I can never sleep more than that. I always see "statistics" that teenagers should be getting 8 hours sleep minimum, but I have trouble hitting that number on normal weekdays. There are no side effects, I function normally. Is this just habitual and okay, or are there any lasting effects of this pattern?

If you feel fine, then you're fine. If you were feeling tired during the day, I would say you should visit your doctor since you have a sleep problem.

If you're experiencing anything like this:

Then you may want to see a doctor. You could have a disease or disorder.

Different people need different amounts of sleep, and so if you are feeling completely normal and functioning properly on just 5-6 hours, then there is nothing wrong with that.

It would only become a cause for concern if you were feeling very fatigued throughout the day, having difficulty concentrating, thinking etc. as those would be clear signs that you are not getting enough sleep.

I wouldn't worry about this at all for now. You are very young, and as you get older its very likely that your body will start to change alot and you will find that you need more sleep than you have previously. Its all normal :)

    Sleep pattern?

teens should get more sleep (approximately 8 hours) as they go through a lot more stress. Perhaps you have less stress and can get away with less sleep, what times are you sleeping at?

    From when til when?

    Sleep pattern?

Partial sleep deprivation is cumulative in the form of 'sleep debt', and it often results in fatigue. Though you may not feel any noticeable fatigue, 9+ hours of sleep is required for optimum performance.
