    Ears Gauged. One Infected

So Wednesday night I got my ears gauged. They pierced them with a 14 needle and then used a 10 taper to size it up right after and everything was cool until today. My right earlobe is swollen up hard and is red and very sore. They told me to clean it with antibacterial soap and do a salt dip. I needed to get some sea salt and I haven't had time to stop and get any yet so I haven't started those yet, but I do clean it every day with hibicleanse. (The stuff doctors use to clean their hands before surgery.)

Is this natural? Is it just my ear reacting to the piercing or is it actually infected? What should I do and how can I make it stop? I mean my entire right ear hurts pretty much, and even some down into my neck hurts.

It's completly natural, i just recently got my ears sewn up, they were at one inch. You shouldn't have done that though.... you should get it peirced with a 14.... then wait 2 weeks, then gauge with a 12, then wait a week, then 10, places like that rush it. And it's really bad, and could cause blow-out. I had some blow-out on my left ear because of the same thing. All you need to do, is add some table salt to a cup of water, and soak it for 2-5 mins, once a day. It's nothing to concerning. It happens most times you stretch them, if they puss or crust, that is also normal. give it a week, also some peoples never stop. My wifes, are at 5/8's and theystil crust, shes had them for a year.

I got a job selling peircing jewlery... too bad i quit before i learned anything about this. From what i know... piercings are done with a 16 gage or 18 gage... since u were getting them bigger... its og to be pierced with a 14 gage BUT... healing time should have been allowed. A 14 gage is pretty big... especially to have it stretched all the way to a 10 right away... that seems unproffesional.

I only say this because my co-workers were at gage 2-4 and they had been doing it for months. Slowly. Each increase in gage should be done step at a time. Never should it be skipped that quickly without allowing proper heal time.

Now i would advise to get the salt dip AS FAST AS POSSIBLE (sea salt +water)because yes the hibicleanse may help keep it germ free, but salt dip helps the healing prosses and the hibicleanse does not. Hope this helped some bit, because again im not 100% the most informed on this, but this is all ive learned... Good luck...

EDIT: i wouldnt say its completely natural... because yes it will happen if you do this too quickly, and it can be avioided by taking your time... it does happen a lot because ppl want them stretched right away...

ALSO, DO NOT RUSH WITH IT! You will regret stretching to fast, where they will not go back naturally. And you'll have to get them sewn up. The point of no return for most people, is 9/16ths. After that, they don't really go back. Sorry for the double post.

Alot of professional places peirce with 14, it's very normal. Most home kits, are a 14 gauge.

I am not stretching anymore, I am going into law so it is a little unprofessional to have huge gauges in your ears.

Oh I personally think small gauges, especially tapers, look really trashy. But yeah, understandable. I had to get mine sewn up for Marines.

I thought about going to a 6, but I am afraid that they won't grow up if I ever decide to take them out.

I think I am going to let them heal up and see how things go.

Sounds like blow out to be honest, take it out clean it up downsize and wait for it to completely heal before stretching again. (I have 30mm's).

I pierced my ears with a large safety pin and immeditly used a taper and went down to a 0 in like 4 days. Keep the zero for a few months then let em heal. There just fine fully healed. Besides the cartilage from not using a hollow needle
