    Should I try weed?

Literally ALL of my friends do weed. They love it and they are starting to always hang out without me. I'm slowly being less and less invited to gatherings/sleepovers, ect.

I have no real reason to not trying weed except for some moral values. I really don't want to loose my friends, so should I try weed? They don't do it on a regular basis.(maby once to twice a month they get together)

So my question is, should I try weed? Tomorrow they are getting together should i join them? I'm really wondering what its like. I am a freshman with average grades and play JV hockey(the ENTIRE Varsity team smokes)

Please don't post "it's up to you" I want to hear your opinions, when did you first try it? Is it worth it?

EDIT: I've tryed it and i've loved it. Thanks for all the input guys!

Not everyone likes to smoke. It depends on the person. The first time you might get a slight headache, not feel anything, or get super chopped. You won't die or anything, and might enjoy it. In all honesty though, it's your choice. Be yourself, if you're not ready, then wait. Don't be one of those people who lets others do his thinking.

Trust me, only smoke weed if you want to do it. No one is going to force you to, and no one is going to force you not to. It honestly isn't really that big of a deal to smoke. You do it, it feels good, and you continue on with your day. Its not as big of a deal as people make it out to be.

    Should I try weed?

Don't try it unless you want to. I tried it, it wasn't that great as people say it is. You have your high, you feel on top of the world and then its back to normal. There's no point smoking weed to act cool or fit in. If they are your friends they will accept you for who you are. Be yourself, you don't need to live in the shadow of someone else.

    Should I try weed?

Listen man, first of all - weed is relatively harmless. There are no immediate physical or psychological side effects from smoking weed and it is not nearly as dangerous as other drugs & even alcohol. So you should do some research into the effects of marijuana before you make your final decision.

I DO want to comment on the fact that the only reason you are thinking of trying smoking weed for the first time is out of peer pressure, and your desire to keep up with your peer group. This particularly worries me, as I know the pressure of being a young teenager and watching your close friends and peers begin to dabble in drugs & alcohol, and your own curiosity and desire to "fit in" starting to outweigh your personal morals and beliefs.

Like I mentioned above, weed is relatively harmless. But like any drug, it all very much depends on your mind set and how you use it. Using any type of drug just to fit in or because your friends are doing it is NOT a good idea. Also, alot of people say weed is a gateway drug and its true. Once you let your morals/beliefs down and you try marijuana, all you are doing is drawing the line a bit further. You may think now that you might never drink, or try other drugs, but you really don't know that... how would you react if your peers started using other party drugs down the line? Think very long & hard before you make your decision.

I started smoking weed & drinking alcohol at a pretty young age and I know that I pressured alot of my friends into doing it with me, which I deeply regret. Years later, many of my friends use alcohol & drugs on a regular basis, and I am actually in recovery right now for a heroin & crack cocaine addiction. It all started with harmless sleepovers, getting high and maybe having a couple of beers, but over time it all progressed very quickly, particularly when you begin associating more and more with like minded people who also want to smoke weed and drink alcohol.

Please be cautious, and think for yourself and make the best decisions you possibly can. If you decide you do want to try it, just be careful and cautious and educate yourself, don't ever put anything into your body without first learning about the pros/cons of each substance and trying to make safe & healthy decisions. These steps never stopped me from developing a drug addiction, but they probably saved my life on a number of occasions. Be smart.

    Should I try weed?

Well from the way you put it , I'd say no , don't try it . Why do I say this is because if your so called " friends " choose not to hang out with you or invite you anyway simply because you choose not to smoke Marijuana then they were never friends to begin with . Don't let a stupid reason like that ruin the way you are now , and especially don't let others change you ever .

    Should I try weed?

I didn't try it until last year and I'm 19.

When people say that it's harmless, it's a bit of a misconception. If you only do it once or twice a month- sure it won't hurt you. My problem was that I was smoking a lot of it every day. After a few months I became emotionally dependant on it. That's to say, psychologically dependant, not physically. It's not like a nicotine addiction, where my body craved it. I felt that in order for me to feel happy, and calm down, I had to have a joint.

I'm just over two weeks sober from weed, and I don't feel great- but I feel normal. My roommates still smoke everyday and it's really hard not to join them.

My advice is that if you want to try it out, then make sure you don't end up getting high more than once a week. Weed is tricky, and before you know it, all you'll be wanting to do is go home and smoke it.

As for the pros: it's amazingly relaxing. If I had to pick a way to die, it would be being hit by a meteoroid after having a runaround with a beautiful girl followed by smoking a joint.

Weed is a fairly harmless drug, ive heard its better for your health than tabbaco. I would try it if i was in your shoes tbh. Its not addicting even though people who are against drugs claim it is. Its also a good way to bond with friends. The choice is entirely up to you :)

Honestly if I were you I'd just do it. You'd be surprised how much better you get to know your friends when they're high lol. Since they're just occasional pot smokers, it's not like you're going to fall into this group of fuckup stoners.

Just expect to not feel much your first time unless you do a shit load.

    Should I try weed?

I first tried it when I was 17, but didn't start smoking it regularly until I was 18. To tell you the truth, marijuana is great, I love it. But in order to truly enjoy it, you have to be able to handle it.
If I were you, I'd wait until you're a little order (the older you are when you begin smoking pot, the less likely the chances are its effects will be negative). If you're that curious about it, try it once and see how you like it (you won't get hooked). You might not get high your first few time smoking it, but once you get the hang of it and really start feeling its effects is when you'll have to decide if you want to continue with it.
It's very likely it will affect you mentally/emotionally, but whether those effects are positive or negative depends on how well you can handle the drug.

It forms a mental addiction than that of a physical addiction from nicotine in tobacco .

Marijuana is a good experience plus if you dont like it quit it. At least try everything once. Therefore you know how your kids are gonna act so its a very experience.

It doesn't hold an addiction where you feel you NEED to have it or you're gonna' die . Over time it will cause you to feel the need to use it whenever you're stressed or just want to be in a chill , relaxed , and happy state of mind . Therefore that is a mental addiction , in which you are able to withdraw from it if you ever felt the need to to do so .

It does as there are withdrawl symptoms, but with that said caffiene withdrawl is worse than marijuana withdrawl. You will usually get some mild insomnia as a withdrawl from being a heavy user.

    More OT:
Yes you should try it because I feel like it is an experience everyone should try. You only live once and not trying relatively harmless drugs because of an archaic system of beliefs is quite ridiculous.

If you think it's a bad idea, don't do it.

If you secretly think it's NOT a bad idea and you just don't think you should think that it's not a bad idea, don't do it.

If you're just waiting for someone to tell you to do it, don't do it.

Why take drugs to be socially accepted? You fitness would go down if you start taking it more regularly, so hockey will be hard. For example, people who smoke ciggaretts (sorry can't spell it), only do it because they had one, and they wouldn't if they had never tried it.

    Should I try weed?

I'm pretty sure that's dependence, not addiction

    http://addictionscience.net/b2evolu...3/30/why-distinguishing-between-drug-dependen

And Bwk, you also need to keep in mind that everyone's experience with marijuana is different. What we're telling you here on Sythe may not be what you're experience will be like. That's why, if you do decide to try it, it's up to you to acknowledge your ability, or lack thereof, to use it responsibly.
