    About the Game Of Thrones

Seeing as I love the Lord of The Rings/The hobbit trilogy what would the game of thrones trilogy be like for me? I heard that it kinda links up with the Lord Of The rings but I may be wrong.

    Opinions?

    About the Game Of Thrones

First of all its not a trilogy it has 3 seasons out so far and more to come. Im on season 3 episode 7 atm. Its a really good show and you would really enjoy it if you're into things like LOTR and other fantasy related genres. Its a lot more violent than LOTR and deals with a lot more dark/adult themes.

    About the Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones is produced by HBO. HBO create the best TV series there are. The only thing that may annoy you is the fact you can tell Jamie Lanister is from Denmark.

But seriously, I would advise reading the books before getting into the series.

    About the Game Of Thrones

This isn't necessary. I haven't read the books and I've seen/enjoyed every episode to date.

Game of Thrones is a more mature version of LotR. It's grittier, with more emphasis on the ability of every person to commit both acts of evil acts of goodness while LotR has a very trite good vs evil plot with a single villain and people working against that villain.

Game of Thrones has no defined 'bad guy' and no defined 'good guy'. You root for certain characters more than others based on their actions in the show. Even characters who do terrible things find ways of redeeming themselves.

It has the mystery and intrigue of a show like Lost combined with classic HBO sex and violence.

It's definitely worth watching if you have a chance.

    About the Game Of Thrones

It has nothing to do with Lord of the Rings - it's based on a separate book series called "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin.

It is in no way related to Middle Earth, but it does occur in 'medieval' times with swords/shields, horses, catapults, castles, etc. as well as magic.

    About the Game Of Thrones

I am not saying you can't enjoy it without reading the books. As I said, I watched the first two series without reading the books and was addicted, so bought the books.

After reading the books, I wish I had read them first.

Donald, if you like to read, read the books first.

    About the Game Of Thrones

I got the first four books in a boxset for 20 bucks on amazon. There are 5 books out so far and two more in the series. I havnt started it yet as im back logged with 3 other books but id asume they're easier to read as they are written in more modern times. LOTR game out in the.50s i think. I may be wrong because iv never read the series.

    About the Game Of Thrones

I always find that the book version of something is more enjoyable than the movie/show version. I didn't personally read the books and found the show enjoyable to watch but those i know who read it all recommended doing that first.

    About the Game Of Thrones

I've watched the first season first and then started reading the books. If I wouldn't watch the first season then I would never get into the books because getting into them is quite troublesome at start, however, once you get hooked and understand the whole world, you'll never regret. I've read all 5 books so far including the 3 short novels The Tales of Dunk and Egg which are based in the same universe, 100 years earlier.

My advice is read the books first because they're so much more better and the TV series can't cope with the amount of information as they have limited time which makes it a little bit dull in comparison with books. Beside this, the TV series changed a lot of things and is not really being loyal to the books such as loss of character e.g. Strong Belwas, Jeyne Westerling etc. No matter what, the TV series are still great but better read the books first.

    About the Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones is the highest rated, most viewed TV show at current. I watch over 20 TV shows without fail, and from all 20, GoT is by far superior. I highly recommend you watch the first 3 seasons; once you finish those - start reading the books, as season 4 isn't due for nearly 7 months.
